Summary: Studying at Dorian's apartment after seeing to the 'mildew' problem. Hattie's paranoia leads her to the apartment.

Still a little frustrated over Hattie's behavior of late, not to mention a few other things, Ella had agreed to see to Dorian's mildew problem. She was dressed in an altered version of the French Maid outfit that Haruhi had snipped to h-ll and back, having sewn a layered skirt over it so she didn't embarrass herself or give people the wrong idea. A knock at the door heralded Her arrival at the apartment. After they tackled this issue, they could work on those French lessons.

A fireplace? I'm sorry. I'm afraid we're quite humble here. I don't have one. But, if you have a chill, I can get you a blanket.

[He pats Hattie's shoulder and looks up at Ella.]

Were you going to stay for your French lesson, my dear?

[ Ella tensed a bit when Hattie inquired about the fireplace, because she knew DAMN well why. Ignore the strained smile on her face would you, dear stepsister, she's still feeling sick to her stomach at this pandering you're doing, Hattie. ]

Huh?

[ Ella blinked at Dorian, jarred out of her thoughts, and then a hand flew to her mouth. ]

Oh! Yes, the French lessons, of course! I'd love to but- [ Here she shot a quick glance at Hattie. Oh it would GRATE on her wouldn't it? ]

I'd understand if you'd rather see to my stepsister. We can reschedule the lesson for another time.

[No fireplace? Curses.. However as she thinks about it a bit more, an even better opportunity presents itself. French lessons, is it? Hattie raises her hands to hug herself, after giving a small, delighted squeak to his touch.]

Oh no no, by all means.. We still have some time. Though in the meantime I would really appreciate a blanket, Dorian.. [She pouts.] Please~.

[Dorian nods at Hattie, throwing her a bright smile. Ladies were so fragile.]

Certainly, sweeting. Please excuse me for a moment.

[He crosses the room to a small chest with bedding in it. He pulls out an old quilt he found when he was getting bedding together. He speaks to Ella as he moves.]

There's no need for that. We've got plenty of time. I'd be delighted to do your lesson as scheduled, unless you have other plans.

[ Ella grimaces. She really didn't mind continuing her lessons, but with Hattie here, she was far too on edge. THen again this was an excellent way to prove to her there was nothing between her and Dorian. ]

All right, if you're sure, and my stepsister doesn't mind. We can pick up where we left off then?

[Oh don't worry, Ella, Hattie will make sure that there's nothing going on. When Dorian steps away, Hattie hisses to Ella, 'Once I cough, you are going to end your sentences with 'herp'. You will end every second sentence with 'derp'.']

[She then sits there like an angel once Dorian returns, giggling once the blanket is slipped over her shoulders.]

Oh I have no problem. Please carry on~.

Absolutely we'll pick up where we left off. Let me go and get the books.

[He knows Hattie said SOMETHING to Ella. But, she does seem rather jealous of her sister. So, he doesn't read anything into it. He flashes Hattie a smile.]

Quite all right there, Miss?

[He goes over to a bookshelf and pulls down some of the French grammar books he'd managed to pick up.]

Curse this place. I had some better titles at home. Still, we'll make do.

[ ... she. Hates. You. So. Much. Right now, Hattie. Though it is quite possibly the -weirdest- command she's ever been given to date. ]

That's all right Dorian. You don't mind if I get a glass of water also do you de- [ She claps a hand over her mouth. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFfffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuu- ]

Derp. [ She's going to say that as quietly under her as possible.

[Yes it is a weird command. And if Hattie has her way, Ella is going to come off as the weirdest person Dorian has ever met. Smug smug. She does pause a moment since the command, to her, seemed to take effect without coughing.]

Oh dear, you're not getting the hiccups again, are you? A gentleman such as Dorian wouldn't mind you getting water, we'll just catch up a little while you get it.

[And she immediately turns to Dorian, charmed by his smile.]

She goes into fits sometimes. You know, when I heard you fluently spoke the 'language of love', I couldn't help but feel how.. Fitting that is.

Fits? I've never saw one before. Here, Ella dear, let me get you some water.

[He exists, patting Hattie's shoulder first, and smiling warmly at Ella.]

[ Quit calling me 'dear' already. Hattie's probably got ten different scenarios involving us yeesh. Ella smiles weakly at Hattie, and ... shakes her head, not chancing speaking as long as she can help it. No, she's not getting hiccups and you damn well know that. Cow.
Turning to Dorian, Ella clears her throat, nodding gratefully, making a pleased noise of approval. Yay water. ... this... was going to be difficult. ]

[It's too late. Far too late. The moment 'dear' was said, Hattie was glaring -daggers- at Ella, with a frown so deep it'd make old men go 'damn!'. And who's a cow? You're a.. Thing!! She grits her teeth so firmly, they might break! When Dorian leaves she hisses:]

Why you little.. When you talk, speak in pig latin too!

[Dorian returns a few moments later with some water. He throws Hattie a smile. She seems quite content in her seat. So, he heads to Ella, handing her the water.]

Here you are. [He hands her the water.] I hope you're not ill. So many strange things have been happening lately. Its likely to be a trial for everyone.

[ Fine, she just won't talk then. Ella smiles at Dorian when he approaches, accepting the water. She opens her mouth - pauses, and sips the water, fingers reaching up to touch her throat a little. Damnit, this was going to be difficult. ]

Hmm! [ Good job, Ella. Next Hattie is going to think you're so smitten you're reduced to non vocal grunts around Dorian. . oh shit....]

[And Hattie in return gives such a bright, smitten smile toward Dorian. Honestly she'd rather sit on his lap and feed him strawberry's rather than watch him do lessons with Ella; but there should be an entertaining show soon enough.]

Thank you so much Mister Gray! And it's so true, I read on the network just the other day about a swine flu outbreak. Thankfully it can only be passed through kissing. They say it causes infertility.

[Hattie takes a sip from her glass, smirking as she looks to Ella. Have your fun, but you'll die a slow and painful death by embarrassment!]

[ Books? No, certainly not - she'd come because she thought he had a problem with the apartment, not for tutoring. Thus, she sheepishly shook her head, struggling to keep from responding vocally. But the last thing she wanted to do we give either of them the wrong idea. And she knew Hattie was so nauseating lost in her smitten little world she'd read everything from Ella the wrong way. BOY would she love to just deck her one And she will too! But not right now. YAY. ]

[ She slaps a hand over her mouth again, feigning a coughing spasm and shoving the glass to her mouth, her gaze darting towards Hattie briefly. Be amused now, but she will murder you in your sleep one day. Only not really but OH if she could just throw you out. . .]

[Hattie spits a bit of her water back into the glass, then quickly clenches her eyes shut to keep from laughing. Wow. Wow. She tries to play it off as surprise, coughing lightly into her fist.]

.. Ahem. Was that French? What did she say, Dorian?

[Dorian rubs his chin, chuckling a little. The poor girl seems to be tongue-tied. Well, she never has been before. Maybe it's the presence of her sister...]

[He calls over to Hattie. He steps forward, taking Ella's hand.]

Are you sure you're all right? Speak up.

[ Damnit Dorian, you're a nice guy if not for that ego, but you are MAKING THINGS DIFFICULT FOR HER. Ella jerks her hand back, mildly irritated. ]

Erphay! Opstay atthay, I'mway inefay erpday!

[ Oh this was just ridiculous. She shook her head. She was not going to give Hattie the satisfaction of seeing Ella embarrass herself the rest of the evening. With a cough into her hand, she backed away from Dorian, sketching a silent curtsey of apology. She was going to make a mad dash. Let Hattie stay with Dorian. Hey, maybe they'll fall for each other and she'll move in with HIM. Oh that would be heaven. ]

[PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT!!!! See, first Hattie's eyes turned red (not really), but then her lips drew inward to keep from bursting out into laughter because wow that was amazing.]

Oh dear.. There's no doubt about it, Ella has swine flu!

[Hattie raises a hand to her cheek, and looks to Dorian as she makes her retreat. Nope, she's not going to make Ella stick around.]

It can only be contracted through kissing. She's been shmoozing again, no doubt. I'd be embarrassed too!

[Dorian doesn't understand 'swine flu']

She doesn't look ill, Hattie dear. I don't think it's influenza.

[He approaches Ella, pinching her chin.]

[ Oh she's sick all right. Sick of Hattie giving her commands. At her remark, Ella turns sharply, leveling a glare at the older girl briefly. Contracted through kissing? How DARE she - just what kind of a girl was she trying to imply Ella was?

Erk, hand on her chin. Ella's attention shifts to Dorian, balking a bit, and she raises both hands to push him away. But. Thank you. Thank you thank you thank you, those beautiful two last words. ]

I said stop it. [ No touchie! And shaking her head a little. This is why Hattie thinks she's always over here being kissy kissy~! ]

I'm sorry Dorian, but now isn't a good time for lessons, I think. Why don't you entertain Hattie for a while instead. I'm sure she'd love that.

[Hattie stroked her own chin, about to make up an elaborate lie about what the symptoms were when suddenly... Ella was speaking normally again, cutting off her fun and causing her to be taken aback for a moment. She'd forgotten, anyone can tell her what to do.]

[Was Hattie not the only one that knew about it anymore? She had been here for a year after all.]

No.. I think I should be on my way as well. Ella, you and I need to talk. In private. Mister Gray, I'm truly very.. Very sorry about this.

[As is usual, Dorian thinks he understands. Ladies are fragile and fickle and inclined to strange whims.]
