Closed log: Crow's Head Cave Exploration!

Who: Rue, Gohan, Ahiru, Franziska von Karma, Korra, Marco, Czeslaw Meyer, Sissel, Mercy Thompson and NPC's.
When: Beginning 9am on the 5th and lasting throughout the day
Where: The cave at Crow's Head Beach
Summary: An investigation into the creature of Crow's Head cave leads to an unexpected adventure for those involved.
Warnings: Mild violence, possible bad words? Nothing worse than a PG movie.

In the early morning light Crow's Head beach is largely deserted of beachgoers, though that will change in coming hours. Sun shines down on the sand and water, all around is the sight and sound of nesting blackbirds, the gentle rush of the waves up the distinctively shaped beach.

Nestled in a cleft between the cliffs lies the small dark entrance to the cave, awaiting those bold enough to venture inside.

[Througout her young life, dedicated to the pursuit of learning everything there was to learn about criminal law, there certainly hadn't been time for swimming lessons. It was not something she had ever regretted, or even really thought about... until now. She's taken in a great gulp of water the wrong way and coughed it back out again, and is doing her best to just keep afloat...although she's certainly not capable of truly directing her movement.]

[Rue has never been more grateful that Didi taught her how to swim when she got her. She coughs and splutters like everyone else, managing to keep up and see's Franziska in trouble.]

Fran! [Your name is long, okay. She paddles her way to her, trying to help.] Are you alright?

[bratziska]

[Under any other circumstance, Franziska would have refused to show any weakness, pretend that she was just fine, but... she flails a little more in the water as she tries to face the other girl properly (and fails).]

Do I ... look alright?

[Because she really doesn't.]

[treehopping]

Sorry! [She puts an arm round her and looks about desperately.]

If we get over to the side you can hang to the rocks. [And then they'll think what to do next.]

[bratziska]

[Not really knowing what else to do in this sort of desperate situation, Franziska clings onto Rue with one hand in return.]

Right.

[And she does her best to make the process as simple as possible - now that she has some support, she's stopped flailing as much, at least.]

[Rue struggles towards the rocks, splashing with the effort of keeping another person afloat but managing it, grabbing onto the stone herself.]

Phew.

[bratziska]

[She grabs onto the rock as soon as she is able, taking a few deep breaths now that there's little danger of an accidental gulp of water instead. Her fingers tighten as she steadies her grip, immediately feeling defensive about the fact that she'd needed help at all.]

I'm fine now.

[treehopping]

Er... kay.

[She let's go of Franziska.

Luckily Rue kept tight hold of her torch through the fall, it's still working as she shines it about, looking for a way out as well as checking on the rest of their group.] I think... I think there's a ledge up there.

[bratziska]

[It takes her a few moments to recover her breath and grow accustomed to the uncomfortable feeling of her clothes sticking to the skin. After that is done, though, she looks in the same direction as the other girl and nods.]

Then we'll head in that direction.

[treehopping]

Can you climb? [Rue pushes back her sopping wet dark hair from her face.]

[bratziska]

[Franziska bristles slightly as she likewise brushes her hair over one shoulder.]

Of course I can climb. I climb trees all the time.

[Discounting the fact, of course, that the last time she'd done so, she'd broken her arm. Her father had forbidden such activity after that.]

Okay, I was just checking. Let's edge our way round.

[Rue does so, keeping hold of the rocks with the small torch clenched between her teeth, glancing back at the group.

This was not how she'd envisioned what was supposed to be a little adventure going;;;]

[Apart from almost drowning, Franziska's actually enjoying herself. It's a nice change from being stuck at home, doing what she's told all the time.

Franziska follows the other girl, pulling off her last remaining glove so that she can maintain a better grip.]

I take it you do this sort of thing all the time, then?

[treehopping]

Not this exactly. [Rue smiles at her after taking the torch out of her mouth, hoping it's reassuring.] I'm outdoors almost always though, doing things.

[bratziska]

[Franziska von Karma does not need reassurance. She does, however, smirk in return.] I liked to be outdoors as a child... but there's not time for such activities these days.

[treehopping]

[Curiously she asks, inbetween shining the torch upwards and getting an idea of the handholds available.] Why not?

[bratziska]

[She lets out a little jagged breath at one point; she really isn't used this amount of physical exertion these days, especially not with almost drowning.]

Because I have to study so I can pass the bar examination. Not that it'll give me any trouble.

[treehopping]

[Confusion.] What's a bar examination?

When you're ready we'll try and get up.

[bratziska]

[ She looks up, and nods slightly. ]

I'm ready.

[ The next sentence, she sounds slightly aghast.]

You don't what the bar is?
