Who: Phibrizzo and OPEN
When: September 4th, between 10am and 4pm (just specify when your character is stopping in)
Where: The Seyrunn Shop of Sorcery
What: Business at a magic shop
Warnings: Probably no more than PG
The Seyrunn Shop of Sorcery had two selling points that distinguished them from other magic shops in the city: the magic amulets with spells pre-loaded into them, and Brass Rackets - a sport from the co-owners' world that used enchanted rackets. Neither item required magic ability. Other wares in the shop, such as their selection of magical herbs, ritual items, and other supplies, were for people who were actually magic users. However, the amulets could be used by anyone as a self-defense item against the Darkness monsters, and the rackets depended on the user's strength of will and force of personality.
At the moment, Phibrizzo was placing some of the magic amulets in a sturdy clear glass cabinet that locked. Spotting someone approaching him from the side, he turned to greet them.
"Hello. What can I do for you, today?"

"Hello. What can I do for you, today?"
early afternoon.
It's not what he expected, and he browses around for a while keeping in mind this is the same magic shop Willow works at when Phibrizzo's voice stops him dead.
He didn't think anyone would spot him but maybe he looked more out of place than he felt.
"Yeah, uh..." good start. "I think I talked to you on the NV a while back. Came to see the place for myself."

Truth be told, he'd thought primarily of security at the Uzushio, but once the shop opened, the need for securing the spell amulets became more pronounced. Because they were simple to use, could be used as a weapon, and were easily concealable, a few enterprising would-be thieves had already tried to steal them.
"These items here are the main thing that we're worried about protecting in the magic shop," said Phibrizzo, passing over a red crystal. "This one is loaded with fire spells. You can try one out in the back room if you'd like."

Dean takes a look at the amulets. He hasn't really seen anything close to them... he had his own but Cas disappeared with it and he hadn't seen it since. It still bothered him. The closest thing outside of that was the rabbit's foot they destroyed years ago before Bela could sell it to somebody that'd abuse it.
"Thanks, but no thanks. I'll protect the merchandise but I don't mess with hoodoo jewelry."

Proud? Maybe a little. But it was also completely true. He led the way through the shop, motioning to different merchandise, until he got to the odd looking rackets.
"These are another thing that only our shop sells - they're enchanted rackets for a sport from my world called Brass Rackets."

He stops by the rackets and gives them a calculating look. "What is it? Some sort of Tennis?"

Regular maintenance of the Darkness proofing was why he was allowed to live at the Uzushio for free without question. The inn needed to look spotless and fresh, uncorroded by the rotting Darkness.
"Tennis is...close," Phibrizzo replied with a little laugh. "It's kind of like a cross between tennis and boxing. You're supposed to to try to knock your opponent over with the ball."

Dean takes a look at the racket, picking one up and turning it over in his hand. "Well, that's a spin on the sport I haven't heard before. If it was more like that back home maybe I'd like it more."

It was always worse than it looked, but how it looked was a good start for being able to estimate the cost.
"The rackets are enchanted so they're powered by willpower and the force of your personality. It's pretty surprising who winds up being really good at the sport, sometimes."

"Neat. Wouldn't mind watching it sometime."

"There are some professionals who can focus so well that they can smash boulders with the ball. Xellos actually played in the semi-finals of the most recent tournament!"

Fortunately, Darkness proofing was a service people had to make appointments with. But there were a few things that might appeal to others as something to steal. He'd been forced to stop Bender the robot from taking a racket.
