[closed] mother told me, yeah she told me, I'd meet girls like you
Who: Dean, Syrena, and maybe Sam a little later.
What: Dinner, a show, and a sleep over.
Where: A sushi joint and an old fashioned club thing.
Warnings: IDK. Don't think so.
[True to his word Dean pulls up in the truck as close to the pier as he can get because he knows Syrena's not gonna want to walk very far.
He leaves the truck and keeps the keys in his hand. He's got some clothes from Buffy and some flip flops under the other room.]
Fins? You around?

[After a few seconds and a few more pieces of sushi Dean reaches out and touches her wrist again.]
Don't stare too long it'll hurt your eyes.

I like light. [She began, explaining.] Man made light. One of my treasures is a flashlight from two humans who were foolish in their swimming and all that was left was their feet in things called flippers.
[She doesn't know it's not appropriate dinner talk, but she is quick to add-]
I did not kill them. I found their feet and their flashlight. It does not work anymore though, for it needs new batteries. Dean, where can I find batteries?
[And she's totally serious about this. It's important. Real important.]
no subject
[He shrugs a shoulder.] So, what? Do you go around inheriting everything that gets left behind by darkness victims?
no subject
[She seems content enough with that answer.]
I go hunting for treasures. There are many, strange things to be found at the bottom of the sea near the docks and around the island. I have a collection.
[Remember the little mermaid's hoarding issues? Seems it's a species thing.]

[Dean holds out a roll of sushi for her to try. He'd just finished chewing one of the same kind.]
You've gotta try this one.
no subject
[And oh hey look, food. She takes it and puts it in her mouth immediately. Mmm. Good choice after all.]

[He pushes his way out of the table and walks over to the waitress. He flirts his way into being able to take the rest home in a heavy duty container and a thick paper bag. He's not risking any getting in the truck. He just got it yesterday. Dean packages the stuff up pretty quick, leaving one for Syrena to eat on the way out and then rolls up the bag and drops it to his side.]
C'mon, angelfish, we need to bail if we wanna make the show on time.
no subject
[It's said as if it's a fact. You're going to get in the water with her someday, just you wait. It kind of is disappointing that they're leaving so soon. It really only feels like they just got there, at least to Syrena it does. Shoving the piece left for her in her mouth quickly and taking one last sip of coke she slides herself to the edge of the booth, holding out a hand for him to take it and help her.]
Okay.
no subject
Part of the reason he picked sushi was because it was a quick meal and it'd leave them with more time for the band if they were any good. He hoped they were.]
So, what'd you think of sushi?
[He hands her the bag, making it pretty clear that the rest is hers with 'Syrena' written on it in a bold black marker he borrowed from the cashier when he paid.]
no subject
I enjoyed it. Dean, what is written on the box?
no subject
[He glances over while heading in the direction of the concert, the sun pretty high in the sky. He pulls back her visor so she doesn't get the glare in her eyes.]
That says Syrena. It's your name.
no subject
This is what Syrena looks like...
[It wasn't her true name, her birth name. That would be lost to the wind and sea, heard only by the ears of mermaids and crying seagulls. It was impossible to pronounce by human tongues and as such, the name Philip had given her in that crucial moment would be the one she used.]
I did not know.
no subject
[Dean settles back into the driver's seat as they pull up to where the concert is being held.]
We're gonna have to get you reading lessons to go with those walking lessons, seashell.
no subject
Is it really necessary to read?
no subject
If you wanna make it on your own without somebody holdin' your hand when you're off shore.
[They were here, so Dean opened the glove and took the bag from her so they could put it in to stay cooler. He didn't want her food going bad while they were at the show.]
no subject
[Because really, that'd be unbelievably dangerous, amongst other things.]
no subject
[Dean hops out of the truck and walks around to her side to help her get out since it's raised and the last thing he needs is for her to have a nasty fall.
The sounds of the band warming up on the stage can be heard from where they're parked.]
no subject
[But it's all she mentions on it, taking his hand as she's helped out of the car, attention diverted to the sound of the band warming up.]
Is that what we are going to listen to?
no subject
[Dean grabs a beer from the open bar and gets them as close to the stage as possible so she can get the full experience.]
no subject
What kind of music will they play, Dean?
no subject
[Dean rests his arms over the guard bar in front of the stage so that the crowd can't push against the musicians or cave in the platform they're playing on. Since this wasn't the big time they didn't have bouncers or any of the stuff he'd seen growing up.]
You're gonna wanna stay close. I don't know where the mosh pit's gonna form but it usually winds up pretty close to the center here.
/SLAMS DOWN TAG HUFF
Stay close, Dean had cautioned and so she would, holding onto his arm with both hands and pressing into his side. She didn't know what mosh was, but she knew what a pit was and she began to eye the ground warily. Just where would the hole open up?]
Does the ground usually open up during rock shows?
[She had to ask - the idea was so bizarre.]
Do people fall in often? I do not want to fall in a pit, Dean.
no subject
No, uh, it's like a circle. People get in fights.
[He shrugs his shoulder and slips his arm around her where she's holding onto him experimentally, pushing him in front of him so she can see better and also so she's out of the way.]
no subject
She allows Dean to move her in front of him, holding onto the arm that he's slipped around her waist. It doesn't bother her - it's better to have support. The last thing she wants to do is topple over.]
I see. I wish to avoid such a thing.
