Halloween Masquerade Ball
Who: The Newcomer Political Party and The Newcomers!
When: October 27th, 7:00pm till Morning Sirens.
Where: The Newcomer Community Center
Summary: Time for some Halloween Masquerade Fun!
Warnings: Anything is possible!
The Community Center has been transformed into a sophisticated autumn dance hall, with bits of Halloween decorations around the room. When the door opens, you find yourself in the hall before the main room, someone ready to take your coat, if you have one, and another ready to give out bracelets. That way no one who shouldn't be drinking won't be able to.

The dance floor is surrounded by a number of small, round tables, each with an elaborate centerpiece of cobwebs. There are lights within the hanging decorations, with draped fabric over the sides, to give it a more close knit feeling. At the head of all the tables is a bar serving free drinks and cocktails to anyone over age. There is also a buffet

And then, of course, there is the dance floor, where people are dancing to the music supplied by two talented DJs, lights blinking and the room ready for everyone to have a good time.

Last call for food is two hours before sirens, and then the last call for drinks is an hour before the party finishes. You might want to be careful when it gets to be that time, though. Around 1:00 am, the party is going to change, due to a series of unfortunate events. You may not be very hungry or thirsty for awhile after.

He doesn't arrive alone-- it was Aoko he had promised he'd take to this event. But he does arrive wearing a flowing, red cloak, a jaunty French-style hat, and a black mask pulled over his eyes. The Alfred Noyes-inspired highwayman costume was fashioned to match Aoko's dress, because hey... who didn't like themed costumes?]
Looks pretty crowded already, doesn't it?
no subject
So this was funny how, again?
no subject
[He responds cheerfully, spinning towards her as he held his cloak out in front of him, as though it were a large cape]
Clever and unique. I doubt you'll find anyone else here dressed similarly.
[And Kaito had always favored uniqueness]
no subject
'S an excuse to try to make yourself look cool, isn't it?
. . . You actually read the poem, right?
no subject
Like I need an excuse for that.
[he lowers his cloak to his side again]
And of course I did. Doesn't mean the characters don't make good costumes.
no subject
Moooooou.
[Arm re-shifting!]
no subject
Oi, c'mon. [He said, tilting his head towards her and letting his grin soften]
We're here to have fun, right?
no subject
[In other words, could be baited, but depends on how good he makes the deal.]
no subject
[He repeated the word, a bit flatly, and extended his hand to her, head tilted slightly]
Try definitely. [a beat] D'you wanna dance?
no subject
'Kay.
[And she finds her hand crept into his without her quite being sure how it got there. Plainly both body and brain have decided to be traitors today.]
no subject
no subject
[She's not pink at this point. That's definitely imagination.]
no subject
D'you know how to dance?
no subject
A little?
[In other words, not a lot. But after some hesitation, her opposite hand slides up to his shoulder.]
no subject
A little is good enough.
[He waits until they're able to match the beat of the music before he steps back. He goes slowly, to make sure that she can follow]

no subject
Look up, not at your feet. You know what you're doing.
no subject
no subject
Are my feet really that interesting?
no subject
[Her eyes tug back up to his. He's so close . . . and though she blamed him for choosing this costume to make himself look cool, she'll admit (very privately) that it suits him. He is handsome.]
[Muttering, trying to take her mind off her own thoughts,] Where'd you learn to dance, anyway?
no subject
Mom taught me. I don't know anything fancy, just the basics.
no subject
Why'd she teach you?
no subject
She told me it'd come in handy one day, and made some joke about girls. [shrugs] You know Mom's weird.
