Halloween Masquerade Ball

Who: The Newcomer Political Party and The Newcomers!
When: October 27th, 7:00pm till Morning Sirens.
Where: The Newcomer Community Center
Summary: Time for some Halloween Masquerade Fun!
Warnings: Anything is possible!

The Community Center has been transformed into a sophisticated autumn dance hall, with bits of Halloween decorations around the room. When the door opens, you find yourself in the hall before the main room, someone ready to take your coat, if you have one, and another ready to give out bracelets. That way no one who shouldn't be drinking won't be able to.



The dance floor is surrounded by a number of small, round tables, each with an elaborate centerpiece of cobwebs. There are lights within the hanging decorations, with draped fabric over the sides, to give it a more close knit feeling. At the head of all the tables is a bar serving free drinks and cocktails to anyone over age. There is also a buffet



And then, of course, there is the dance floor, where people are dancing to the music supplied by two talented DJs, lights blinking and the room ready for everyone to have a good time.



Last call for food is two hours before sirens, and then the last call for drinks is an hour before the party finishes. You might want to be careful when it gets to be that time, though. Around 1:00 am, the party is going to change, due to a series of unfortunate events. You may not be very hungry or thirsty for awhile after.

[She waves as she sees her friend approach, and grins widely at the compliment.]

You think so? Thanks! But you look so beautiful... Where did you get the dress?

[She gives it a little twirl.] Turns out a lot of students in textiles classes at SPU really need the extra money. Had to shell out a month's worth of tips, but it's pretty functional for all special occasions, so that's something.

[motioned]

I hope you get to wear it lots more, then.

[As Christina twirls, her smile brightens even more at how much her friend seems to be enjoying herself.]

Where'd you get the mask? It looks great.

Costume shop. I wanted one with more flamey looking designs, but apparently everyone was going for "hell princess" chic this year. I really like the feathers though, so it was a good trade-off.

[She stands on her toes looking for the Raggedy Andy-shape that Ahiru came in with and then leans down to whisper conspiratorially.] Who's your friend?

[motioned]

Yeah, the feathers are nice!

[She looks back to where he's probably mingling with a few people before turning back to Christina.]

Oh, his name's Alois! Um, we live in the same place. He's one of my very best friends here.

[worldhaditsway]

[Christina, having not seen Alois when he's being... More Alois than he is currently, immediately jumps to the wrong conclusion.] So do you like him- like him?

[motioned]

Of course I like— wait, no, no, not like that! That's - he's my friend!

[worldhaditsway]

Oh! [Christina's a little stunned by that. She glances over in Alois's direction again and cringes.] Sorry. I thought he might be- [And then something hits her and she's more awed than embarrassed.] Wow. You convinced him to dress up and he's not even your boyfriend. He must be great.

[motioned]

Oh, no, don't worry about it! Just, um, yeah.

He is! But I don't think it had much to do with me, he likes stuff like this. Parties and dressing up and stuff, I mean.

[HE DOES LIKE TO SHOP, CHER...]

Ohhhh. Right. Um. [CHANGING THE SUBJECT NOW.] You wanna get some punch?
