When: 12/12/12, beginning at 12:12am and ending around 10pm at night.
Where: Siren's Port, across all sectors
Summary: Everything detailed here is going down, citywide. Panic and chaos ensues as shortly after midnight, everyone in Port loses their special abilities. Is The Core playing a cruel doomsday trick? Or is it something even more sinister?
Warnings: Violence & Civil Unrest. Angry swearing inevitable!

[ Everything had started off very orderly, with detainees being properly processed and evaluated for their suitability as test subjects, prior to Break's interviews. However as the day had gone on, more and more people had arrived, throwing the neat, orderly process into some disarray.

Break knows there's someone inside, but no idea who when he pushes open the door. He's actually glancing down at his clipboard, when he walks in, through a pair of reading glasses (his last release of his Chain's power wrecked the perfect vision Godstiel had given him, and now things close up look blurry). ]

Hi, hiiiiiii~!

Welcome to SERO, I hope you haven't been kept waiting tooooooooo long~! ♥

[debtor]

[—NOT... who he had been expecting.

And yet, he somehow feels as though he shouldn't be very surprised. HA HA ha can this day get any better.

Sweetly:]

Not very long.

[maddeninghatter]

Allen!

[ Dropping all pretense. And his clipboard. ]

What are you doing here?

[debtor]

[Allen drops the smile and sits back— making as if to cross his arms, but that doesn't quite work, so he just settles for a disapproving glower.]

Why has SERO brought any of us here?

[He'd honestly like to know, as he's feeling rather worried for the other detainees.]

[maddeninghatter]

[ He recovers quickly, sweeping up his clipboard again. He gazes at Allen appraisingly, over the top of his spectacles. That fancy detachable arm doesn't seem to be working too well. And as for his eye... ]

For your own protection! ♥ It's madness out there on the streets. So we'll be keeping you here a little longer, 'kaaaaay?

[ He slides open a drawer, and pulls out an apple. ]

Are you hungry? Catch!

[ He tosses it at Allen, hard. ]

[debtor]

[He reaches out to catch it! But slightly misjudges and it hits him... right in the face.]

Oi!

[maddeninghatter]

Ha! Ha! Ha!

[ Break's expression flickers, despite his laughter. As suspected. He adjusts his glasses and glances down at the clipboard. ]

Well, well--

A couple of questions, if you please. Are you employed? What sort of work are you doing, and for whom? Have you any company affiliation?

[debtor]

[He rubs his poor face with his hand, then reaches down to grab the apple. He has half a mind to throw this back at Break...

Two thirds a mind, really. He grips it as he talks, sounding rather irritated. Though, he still answers at least the first question.]

I work at the Cat's Eye, and the fairgrounds.

[maddeninghatter]

[ While Allen struggles with his pique, Break is balancing a stack of Post-its, a paper clip dispenser, and a stack of sterile sponges on his head. ]

Any affiliation?

Or have you remained carefully neutral, hmm?

[debtor]

[...wait what are you doing...]

No affiliation.

[maddeninghatter]

[ Just as suddenly, the items are all back in place, and the tower disappeared. ]

Well, that's too bad. There's lots of advantages to affiliation, you might think about a job with SERO. What sort of qualifications do you have? Any special talents?

[ A delicate little pause. ]

I'm... not talking about your abilities. What you've lost - well, it might come back. Then again, it might not.

[debtor]

[He grits his teeth, looking away sharply. The latter part is clearly not a thing he wants to hear, not something he wants to even contemplate.

His right hand curls hard around the apple; his other only twitches, slightly.]

I'm not interested.

[maddeninghatter]

[ Break "hmmmms" at that, scratching at the paper in his clipboard with a pencil. ]

Come now, think. Surely you can do something useful without your powers?

[debtor]

[In Allen's humble (and healthy) opinion, he might as well be dead, if he hasn't got his Innocence. So he doesn't bother with the question.]

It'll come back. I'll bring it back.

[maddeninghatter]

[. Scratch scratch scratching with his pencil. ]

And how d'you plan to do that, hmmm? You don't even know what's causing this.

[debtor]

It has to be the Core, hasn't it?

It's blocked our abilities, but it can't have taken them away. [His arm's still here, after all.] So it can be reversed.

[Ssssomehow...!]

[maddeninghatter]

That is the most popular explanation.

[ Everything has been going so smoothly here at SERO, considering. Break has his suspicions. ]

Whether it is the correct one remains to be seen. So! Supposing you do get your abilities back, what talents do you have? Apart from pulling your arm off~!

[debtor]

[There's no 'supposing'!!! Ugh...

He leans back, narrowing his eyes at Break.]

I can juggle.

[maddeninghatter]

Ha! Ha! Ha!

[ SLAM!

His cane whistles past Allen's left ear, striking the wall behind him. ]

How very droll!

By the way - it might interest you to know that the SERO corporation has the power to keep you in your current state, indefinitely.

[debtor]

[He flinches away with a yelp, watching the cane clatter to the floor before spinning back 'round to face Break.]

What are you talking about?

[maddeninghatter]

[ He plucks his cane up from the floor, cheerfully. ]

Shall we exchange information?

[ And now it's time for candy. He twirls open the cellophane between his long fingertips. ]

[debtor]

[He watches Break, expression guarded.

Mr. Hatter could be bluffing, or SERO really could have that power; if it's the latter, he'd like to know how. (Binding seals immediately come to mind, and he'd be happy if he never saw those again.)]

...It can also become a claw.

[Vague works, right?]

[maddeninghatter]

[ CHOMP! Crunch crunch crunch. ]

To what end?

[ Licking his fingers ]

I'm interested in the wherefores as well as the whats.

[debtor]

[He sighs.

And expresses no interest in the candy.]

My arm is a type of weapon known as Innocence in my world, and its purpose is to destroy weapons made of Dark Matter.

[maddeninghatter]

[ The only sounds in the room are the final crunches of Break's hard candy, and the scratching of his pencil. After a moment, he sets his pencil down and looks up. ]

Hmm. Good.

Now I'll tell you a little something, shall I? Although most Core-derived special abilities are fairly straightforward - the power to fly, for example - some are more subtle. Certain individuals have the ability to modulate the powers of other people. Some can enhance another person's powers. And some can negate them.

[ He takes up his pencil again - and another piece of candy. A lollipop, this time. ]
