These words I've shared

Who: Open Log for all those who let themselves get taken in.
When: September 1st, 1918 and September 2nd, 1918.
Where: Undisclosed barracks at the Missionworth Military Base
Summary: The Military wants answers, and they're hoping you can help give them. Also, there are at least temporary beds. Try and sleep off that hangover.
Warnings: Interrogations will only go as badly as expected.

Though the newcomers haven't been treated as an overall threat, they have been taken to their new location as quickly as possible, and under fairly heavy guard.

Those guarding the newcomers vary between overly interested, and incredibly wary. Some seem to barely be able to hold back asking questions, and some clearly expecting a fight at any moment.

Needless to say, the tension is a bit high.

The newcomers who came quietly (Or at all) are held for the meantime in an empty barracks, bunk beds lining the walls and a bathroom off one end of the hall.

Periodically, a guard will come by and request for someone to follow them to be questioned.

It's likely a good idea to follow.

"I know this... But sometimes it annoys me. Dorian looks down on me for being poor, you know - and I heard you say to him - but it is the attitude I see on so many faces. And now everyone knows me to be a thief... It is like that man said; karma should get me. Well you know what? I will prove them all wrong. I'll be wealthy soon- and be a lady."

She meant it too. With Jesse's cashflow, she was soon going to be rich. But she couldn't tell Ella that either. Still, she sat back cross-legged on the floor. Staying with Ella was better than being by herself.

"I did not mean to be rude, you know?"

"That's why you don't let them know it bothers you. They'll only keep doing it. No one can diminish your self worth but yourself." But Eponine does a pretty good number on herself as is.

"Money isn't everything." She would gladly give it all up if it meant she wouldn't have to have her curse. But people who don't have money their entire lives don't usually understand or agree with that - and people who /do/ have money all of their lives rarely agree with it.

Ella knew most people would disagree, actually. Sliding off of the edge of the bed beside Eponine, Ella reached over to rest a hand on the girl's shoulder. "Just promise me you won't turn out to be the kind of lady that things because she has money, she can treat people poorly, or throw money at your problems."

"Usually, I am good at hiding it, no? But sometimes, it's good to tell other people. Hattie does not care, but you... You actually listen, do you not."

She looked up at Ella in surprise when the woman touched her shoulder.
Would she be a lady who threw money at problems to make them go away? Would she treat people badly? Well, probably not the latter, but perhaps the former. But for now she just nodded and smiled.

"Come - shall we take our minds off being locked up? This is what I used to do when I was in jail in France."

"Of course I do. There's no difference between you and I, besides social status, and that's meaningless here. We're both people trying to get by in a strange place."

A nod and smile was as good as she could hope for in the time being. She tilted her head curiously at the suggestion. "What's that?"

"Well... I used to sing sometimes. Not well or anything. Just to make me think of being someone I am not and somewhere I am not. And I used to tell myself stories. I think the women thought I was mad. Maybe I am - do mad people know they are mad?"

Eponine smiled a dreamy smile at Ella, lost in her thoughts. "It made everything bearable, you know, to sing. I used to pretend I had a lovely voice, like the actors, or the ladies I sometimes listened to through the windows of the big houses."

"Let.. Me... GO!! LET GO OF ME!"

Hattie had not had a very good day. First she was out cold from being drunk off her ass, and she still isn't sure what's going on. Once approaced by the officials, things went.. Poorly. Very poorly.

"Shit, she woke up again, will someone -do- something??" a guard yells, followed by a grunt as if having been thrown.

"You can't -do- this to me! I'm a PRINCESS!"

"Yeah yeah we- JESUS! She BIT me!"

There's the sound of stuggling and two more guards rush right past the cell and toward the commotion where there's spiteful laughter of the female voice, which abruptly cuts off to the sound of a vicious impact.

"You know what, just.. Just throw her in cell twenty-seven, maybe that'll cool that slippery witch off. And restrain her arms -tight-, dammit."

Shortly after that command, the unconscious owner of the female voice (Hattie of Ehvenn), is seen being dragged along the floor by two men. Her face can't be seen with the way her hair is dangling but, come on. We all know it's her.

... Right?

Well, that snaps Eponine out of her reverie. There's only one person who has such a shrill voice that it grates on Eponine, even in her dreams.

"Madame Hattie?"

She looks round in confusion for a minute, before rushing for the bars of the cell.
"HATTIE?"

She flinches at the sound of the impact - Hattie would not like that - and she gasps as they drag poor Hattie (did I really write that?) past.

"Madame? MADAME!! Where are you taking her? Answer me - please, M'sieur."

The soldiers of course ignore Eponine even as she tries to reach through the bars to grab at Hattie. She can't do anything, of course, except watch helplessly as Hattie is dragged past.

She looks back at Ella. "We have to do something, Madame. You heard her; she is a princess. Princesses should not be in jails. Hattie cannot cope with this."

Even Ella was alarmed at the sound of Hattie kicking up such a fuss, getting to her feet. And in spite of herself, Hattie really didn't need to be treated like that - Ella found herself calling after the guards. "You can't treat her like that -!"

Because that sounded painful, "Hattie!" They better not have killed her. That's my job!

She'd roll her eyes at the 'Princesses should not be in jails' line, but there were more important things. She did however, agree that Hattie couldn't cope in a setting like this. Glancing at Eponine, Ella shook her head, "There isn't much we can do from in here, Eponine."

Hattie gives a low groan in response to her name being yelled. Being rather dizzy, she isn't in a position to really say anything, but the voices do sound familiar. It'll be more clear to her a little later but she's very much alive.

Eponine and Ella aren't completely ignoredthough, as one guard that is favoring his shoulder reponds to them with a red face, "Keep it down in there!" Don't egg him on, he's clearly ready to own some more noobs. He waits for only a moment before following along with the group.

Eponine wandered reluctantly away from the bars; she wasn't good at planning what to do; she had spent her life being told to be in a certain place to do a certain thing, and unlike Ella, wasn't independent enough to consciously take charge of her future. She sat on the bunk again.

"I would like to take Hattie back to France with me - I wish I could show her... a day in my life there would teach Hattie not to fight peopple she cannot possibly beat."

She looked up as heavy footsteps came closer and a jangle of metal indicated that the cell was being opened. A soldier.

He pointed straight at Eponine. "You. Girl. Come with me - and let's be having no funny business."

Eponine stood up, glancing at Ella, but said nothing. She followed the man quietly out of the cell, and some way down the corridor, waiting patiently as instructed whilst he locked Ella's cell again. Once the guard had collected her, Eponine put her hand on his, closed her eyes and concentrated, imagining his mind being wiped of - everything. She had probably overdone it a bit, but she wasn't sure what might trigger a reaction, and Eponine had no intention of staying in jail for longer than she had to. Especially if they were hitting prisoners. Eponine had no intention of being beaten up again.

Once the man was essentially blanked, it was simple for Eponine to take his keys off his belt, and hurry back to Ella's ccell. Breakouts with magic powers were SO much easier than in France... Her hair was only slightly ruffled from where she had ran her hand through it as she concentrated, and she attempted to smooth this down even as, triumphantly, she waved the keys at Ella.

"Look - see, Madame, what I have. Come - we can get out of here. I don't want them to hurt you too."
