Who: Maya Fey and you!
When: Backdated to March 10th!
Where: The Newcomer Memorial Center!
Summary: Maya's making strings of origami cranes to put on the markers/graves! People... run into her? And possibly get origami lessons. Feel free to specify the marker/grave your character is hanging around if they have a mutual acquaintance/friend there.
Warnings: Dropped people! Dead people! Maybe some ~internal angst~? BUT MOSTLY... EXTREME ORIGAMI AND PAPER-FOLDERINGS AW YEA
[Maya's been making good use of that origami set Larry got her (and the lessons, too). She's no expert, but she's folded paper so many times it's like second nature for her. She's made some progress, too, her original foldings were barely recognizable, but now it's easier to tell what she's making and she's even managed to branch out a bit from the cranes.]
[Usually she does her origami elsewhere, but today she's brought all the material things with her. It won't bring anyone back, she knows, it's a small gesture and it doesn't really change anything, but--]
[But--]
[...She passes by some of her usual spots, pausing momentarily at Mia and Wolfwood to pry open the respective boxes she's left under their markers (graves) to add her newest creations to the little collection of things she's put aside for them. Having that done, she scopes out a little spot out of the way and sets up shop with her colored papers, settling in and putting her hands to work. Yazoo was going to need one now, after all, and there were others, she was sure.]
[She isn't expecting to be approached, especially in a quiet place like this- but her getup does stand out, even if she's out of the way, so it isn't like she's easy to miss]

In the Port, it's different. Now he can visit the graves of his friends whenever the mood takes him. As it turns out, it takes him fairly often. Sometimes he'll just be passing through, making sure no one has graffiti-ed on it like they do in the baseball diamond.
Today is not such a day. He's restless and lately, he's losing a lot of people. Some literally, some metaphorically. He's in all black, looking the part of a mourner. (In reality, black is just his preference in clothing.) He wanders, sometimes coming to a halt to stare contemplatively at particular markers. Carrie. Sarina. Khisanth. (He had to make sure that she got a marker himself.) He's stopped at Tifa's when he notices a brightly colored young woman. His brow narrows and Griffin makes his way to her.]
Oi. What are you doing?

Um... origami. Why?
no subject
Do you have to do that here?
no subject
Why not? They're for here! It's less work.

You put these on the graves?
no subject
Of course! They look pretty plain right now, don't they?
I totally shouldn't be doing this but...it looks like I am!
YES YOU SHOULD
Eeek!
hahaha WELL OKAY
[He drops the hand that flew up to his chest sheepishly back to his side. Man, if his heart doesn't jump out of his throat or his ribcage, he'll be fine. Jeez.]
W-what are you doing here?
<3
What are you doing here? And don't call me that, geez!

Their graves are probably empty too- Ishida's and Sahara's and all the men from the Starside's, that is. There couldn't have been much left of them when someone finally came to pick up the bodies. It doesn't feel real enough. It's that same strange, hollow feeling he gets whenever he sees those adverts asking for information on missing people. There's no closure. No body to bury and mourn.
Kaiji had intended to look for some of his old friends but now he's not sure he has the guts. In fact, he's ready to just give up and leave when a girl wearing one of the stranger outfits he's seen so far catches his attention. Surprisingly, it wasn't the clothes that made him stop in the first place- it was the origami cranes.
He watches quietly for a few moments before clearing his throat.]
You makin' them as offerings?
WOW MY WRITING IS SO REDUNDANT
[She's so focused on her work she doesn't notice the man standing there, right up until he clears his throat and she's suddenly looking up. He's very familiar - but she doesn't put 2 and 2 together just yet. She does grin in greeting, though, as well as bow her head quickly as always when greeting someone (just sans handclasp this time)]
Offerings? [That made her think of more of those movies where people would sacrifice people to volcanoes...] Umm... well, I was thinking it'd be nice to spice them up a bit. What do you think?
YOUR WRITING IS NEVER REDUNDANT
You know. Some people like to leave offerings on graves- saw it all the time in Tokyo.
[Kaiji glances back at the cranes she's making- they've all been folded neatly, with care.
"Spruce up" the graves, huh...? He goes to glance back round to spot the markers with a crane on them but stops himself halfway, pretending to click his neck instead. It feels strangely voyeuristic trying to figure out who she's here to visit, like going to watch a stranger's funeral.]
... it's for different reasons than you but... I guess I wouldn't want my grave to look bare. It's a nice idea. [nodding at the origami] I'm not too great at stuff like that.

And, well, he had found at least one thing he was looking for at the stupid place for chicks to cry about people that were gone. ] Uh- hey, baby. Uh, huh huh.

[Oh.]
Um.... [He isn't talking to her, is he?] ... Hello?

He walked up and down the rows, eyes browsing over the names. He finds the one that he had been mainly looking for.
Yosuke Hanamura the marker declared.
He kneeled in front of it, breath momentarily leaving him. He had never ever wanted to see this happen, at least while he was still alive. It only reminded him of his failure as a leader, his failure to protect his partner and best friend.
And yet it was surreal because though he mourned, he felt guilty, knowing that Yosuke was back with him and that he should appreciate that more than anything. It was an odd conflict, though he still felt he should pay his respects. He sat quietly, hands pressed together in front of him as he mentally said a prayer.
When he was done, he stood back up, intending to find Kanji's next. It was then he saw a girl in...very bright purple but not wearing western clothing. He approaches her cautiously. It looked like she was making paper cranes. He had a ton of experience with that so...
"Would you like help with those?"
