Where: The House of Repression Departure, aka Ven, Terra and Aqua's place
Summary: The twins are turning 17! Their close friends and pretty much anyone who's got positive CR with one or both is invited to stop into their open house birthday party. Nothing too structure, gifts aren't required—just come have some cake and good times. Open log, thread away however you like.

It's a little past Ventus' birthday and a little before Roxas', but as far as those not in the know are concerned, they're all-natural twins who are turning 17 today.

And what a nice day it is! Good weather outside, colorful balloons and good cheer inside, and most importantly—cake. Lots of cake. Because each bro gets one, and that means more for guests.

[It still feels...sort of weird, when Roxas and Ven are in the same room. Not as weird as when Xion and Ven are together, but... still just a little weird. He wonders if everyone else feels this way, when he and Riku are standing side by side.

Joe's made a playlist of all the songs they've listened to on and off, now and then, since Roxas' arrival in Port. Including the ones that are sort of inside jokes, like The Final Countdown and Bad Romance. He's cued them all up on some of his DJ equiptment, proud of being able to provide personalized party music

And then he's hanging out beside his friend, kicking back with a soda. Roxas has always been there. It's a good thing to know and be able to count on.]

So. What are you going to wish for, when you blow the candles out?

[Like for Ven, Riku isn't sure how to react other than showing how happy he is that Roxas is having a birthday. He's uncertain of Roxas' feelings on the subject, but he hopes it's a good one...despite circumstances.]

Well aren't we Mister Popular~ [Axel sidles up alongside Roxas with his arms folded over his chest and an impressed look on his face.] Quite the turnout--I can't imagine they're all here for the free cake.

[Birthdays weren't exactly loudly celebrated in the Land of Departure, but for as long as Terra can remember, he's believed that birthdays are important. And some are even more important than others. Roxas and Ven's definitely qualify as extra significant in his eyes. Especially after everything that's happened lately.

As such, Terra's worked hard to make sure their party is a special one. He lent a hand with the cleaning and decorating, and he did a good bit of shopping.

Staring at candles in the store had got him thinking, though.

It was Ven's seventeenth birthday and everyone was celebrating it as if it was Roxas' seventeenth, too. Except it... was really more like his third? That was an odd thought. He was going to be three. His body was going to be three. But his mind... that was more like seventeen. For appearances' sake, it was simpler to go with seventeen, but was the real number of years he'd existed as himself more important? What about his heart? How old was it?

For a brief few moments, Terra had wondered what that meant for him, too.

He'd ended up buying a box of brightly colored birthday candles and one extra candle that came in the shape of the number three.

When Saturday arrives and the party gets underway, Terra's content to stand back and watch the goings-on. He doesn't exactly approve of everyone who shows up... But he keeps his mouth shut and does his very best to ignore the few people he's not so fond of.

Eventually, after casually sticking the three candle in Roxas' cake, he finds his way to the boy.]

Happy birthday, Roxas.

[He won't admit it, but it's nice to be able to pick out Roxas and not find himself questioning whether it's Ven... or even Xion.]

[She was running a little late today; just a few seconds off, but that was a few seconds too soon, and she wasn't used to it. But she was glad, glad that she could be here for her friend. Her little partner in not-so-much-crime.

So she tackles him with a hug.] I'm so proud of you, Roxas!

[K-thunk. There's a box that's lightly tapping Roxas on the back of the head. A haphazardly wrapped box that's only about the size of a book.]

[It's funny--Axel wondered for a while if he would have trouble keeping Ventus and Roxas straight. They really are practically twins, after all. But it's never been a problem, really; aside from the initial confusion he's never managed to mistake one for the other. Have a clap on the shoulder.]

So how's it feel to be an old man? [Even if you guys should technically be the same age. LOL time paradoxes.]

[Terra keeps tabs on Ven throughout the party, peeking into whichever room he's wandered into during the celebrations. His primary concern is that Ven's having enough fun. Other than that, he gives him plenty of space, much as he has been since he returned home with Aqua. The memory of the conversation they had back at the station is still pretty vivid... and painful.

But, same as the Christmas presents, Ven will later find a gift in his room: this time it's an envelope with a birthday card and a decent bit of extra birthday money to spend however Ven likes.]
