Every now and then
Who: Damon Salvatore (
dilemma) & Amy Pond (
sharp)
When: Just after the sirens.
Where: Damon's apartment in Sector 5
Summary: Amy's coming to visit Damon's new apartment.
Warnings: None, will update if there are any.
[ Sector 5 is a large step in the right direction by Damon's standards, though somewhat outside of his price range. He isn't proud of the things he'd done (Very proud is a better way to put it), but it's better than that run down newbie building he'd been squatting in for the past few months. This one still has that new apartment smell, recently renovated with the works and sparsely decorated with what little he could acquire on such short notice. It's by no means finished, but it's good enough for now.
It's a wonder Amy would be willing to venture out so close to the sirens, but he didn't question it. Not if she was actually going to go this far out of her way willingly. He knows when and when not to question the Amys of the world (especially when things are going the direction he wants them to).
When she finally gets to the building, he hears the door open and waits for her to travel up the elevator and approach the door before he opens it, greeting her with a self-satisfied smirk. Doing that will never get old. ]
You got here in one piece. Good for you.

Although, she was annoyed that he had to be all the way out in Sector 5, which required her jumping on the night track and taking the subway over there. She always had bad experiences on the night rides. But she did manage to make it there unscathed.
Amy was still catching her breath when Damon opened the door. Her heart rate jumped a bit. Stupid vampire. ]
Yeah, not like it was exactly easy though.

If I knew you'd go all Super Girl on me I would have waited until the morning to send that.
[ He says the words all fine and good but there isn't an ounce of sincerity to his tone. He's trying to ignore the sound of her heart and the thought of all the blood and heightened adrenaline pumping through her veins. It was neither the time nor the place. ]
Guess you'll just have to stay the night.
[ With that the door swings open and he leaves it, leading her into the apartment in a very unhost-like manner. He points around the decently sized apartment as he rattles off: ]
Living room, kitchen, nook, master bedroom, guest room slash den. Consider it the grand tour.

You asked, I came. [ Her tone suggests that, actually, she's always Super Girl. ] But we'll see 'bout that, vampire boy.
[ Based on what time it is, Amy has a feeling she will be spending the night. Of course, not in the way his words suggest. She just doesn't want to give him anymore ideas, or inflate that vampire ego of his anymore than she probably already has.
Pulling the scarf off from around her neck as she walks in, she glances around the apartment. It's certainly a step up from the Tower Apartments. She carefully raises a brow at him. ]
Do you even have a job to pay for all of this?
[ Clearly the most important question here. ]
no subject
[ This whole getting a job and working thing isn't really Damon's bag. He's got an ace up his sleeve for a perfect front to his less than savory dealings, but he's sure that letting Amy know he's made a ritual of compelling people into doing him favors and giving him untraceable amounts of money wouldn't go over well. She has enough to be irritated with for the evening as it is. The less she knows, the better.
He makes his way over into the kitchen, leaning over the makeshift bar he's set up on the island. He uncorks a bottle of wine and pours it into one glass then shifts it to the part of the counter nearest her. Of course, the scotch gets poured for his own drink. ]
So what's with all the homicidal maniacs finding twue wuv tonight?
[ Sorry, Amy, Damon has no tact. He glanced around the feed and saw the backlash, hers in particular, and unfortunately his curiosity is overriding any investment he might have in finding out if she's ok just yet. She did make it all the way here, after all. ]

[ Amy furrows her brows in skepticism, also in a do I even want to know manner. She feels like now really isn't the time for questioning though. She's had enough of motives and schemes and all that rubbish at the moment.
She follows him into the kitchen, then leans against the counter and props one of the elbows up to rest her chin in. She sighs. ]
It's a long story. Seriously, don't get me started.
no subject
[ Thankfully for her Damon's not a fan of sharing his motives and schemes with everyone. She'll just have to wait for now.
One thing he is a fan of, unfortunately, is inappropriate prying. ]
Breakup was that bad, huh? Consider his choice a downgrade. Half this Port would kill to bag a red head.
[ Ignore the smirk on his face while he sips his Scotch. He'll get her to talk yet. ]

Although, she finally reaches forward and drags the wine glass by the stem toward her. She glances down at the swirling liquid before lifting it and taking a large sip. Clearly not near enough drunk for this conversation. ]
There wasn't any breakup. We weren't even together -- Peter and I were just close friends. Not sure 'bout that anymore, is all. [ Then she looks up, visibly annoyed as another thought comes to her. ] I mean, I'm engaged. In case you didn't know. So, I'm not exactly baggable.
and he deserves that look every time
"Close friends" that get mad about when they find out they're "close friends" with another person and decide to not be "close friends" anymore? Oh no, that all makes perfect sense.
[ He's doing his best possible Caroline impression because in this mind it's all ridiculous tween problems. But then she's talking about being engaged and he's putting his skeptical face back on. ]
Clearly not that binding of a claus if you're being close friends and traveling through time with a Doctor. [ He takes a just sayin' sip of his scotch. ]
no subject
You don't get it. You don't know the Doctor, or what it's like travelling with him. I wouldn't even expect you to understand though, so don't. Really.
[ another huffy sip!! ]
And I'm not mad about him being "close friends" with someone else. He lied to me, that's what matters. And besides it's Sylar. I still don't trust him.
he's just being rational all over the place today, amy
[ Smug asshole or not, the fact that he's seen and done a lot over the years is irrefutable. Sure, the whole time travel dimensiony stuff isn't exactly his forte and he has never met and alien. But normal "friend" stuff he's seen it all, honey. ]
Did you ever stop and think he might have lied to keep people from getting hurt. You know, like you?
[ He's going to take another just sayin' sip for good measure. ]
traitor!!!
It's complicated, okay? We'll leave it at that. Maybe later.
[ Besides, he's already derailing her with his next question. Her brows furrow and it definitely looks like that was not the right thing to ask. ]
'Course I did. That's what people always say. But he still didn't tell me even after it was all over.
is Damon's middle name.
I'm sure you weren't hiding any doozies from him. Like, oh let me think, fiances back home.
[ Yup, he went there. Personally he could care less, but if Peter and Amy were dating or whatever, he could see how it could bother him. ]
Half truths, lies, secrets. Everyone in this Canadian purgatory has something to hide. Even you, Red.
sob
I wasn't though! I told him about being engaged. He understood and everything was fine, mostly, but then all of a sudden he kicks me out of his flat -- I was staying there because of the explosion stuff and mine needing to be fixed. But that's beside the point. [ She's rambling at top speed now. The wine is probably helping her be a tad bit more truthful, too. ] He never told me why. I mean, I assumed it was about the whole fiancé thing. Nevermind. Anyway, I stopped by his place one day and Sylar was there. Peter made it seem like he wasn't invited, but they both lied about that. It was an act to make me think that. Peter was actually hiding him there.
I guess it all sort of took off from that. And I just found out. Today.
[ DEEP ANGRY BREATH. ]
I'm not the one hiding anything.
[ Unless he counts a few secrets and 'half truths' back home, but that has no affect here. ]
no subject
Some part of him should be concerned with how she'll react to knowing his past. He can't bring himself to care; it's for the best she thinks he's a questionable monster the same way it's probably for the best she hates Peter a little for the time being. ]
That is pretty horrible. What. A. Dick.
[ It doesn't come out as mocking or condescending, he just figures that's what she wants to hear. The comment about hiding things gets a much more frank response. ]
I'm hiding things. Loads, even. My pre-purgatory baggage is my own business.
