The Newcomer Business Convention

Who: EVERYONE EVER. OOC coordination post is over here
When: April 20-23, all day.
Where: Somewhere around the Newcomer Community Center.
Summary: Violet Systems gives Newcomer Businesses a chance to shine at a convention of their own. Exhibitors from all industries, as well as fellow newcomers looking for job opportunities are welcome! Also-- there will be a big MAN protest on Saturday.
Warnings: Nothing yet.

Visitors who stop by the great white tent that had gone up near the Newcomer Community Center will first notice a large LED sign before the entrance with a detailed list of participating exhibitors as well as activities for the day. Inside the tent, booths are arranged in rows, where everything from food businesses to the most sophisticated enterprises were on display for everyone to explore.

Get ready to come home with lots of sample products and brochures, guys.

Tim had said that he could do the talking, or he could do the showing off. Either one was fine with him; as long as the zoomer got shown off, and they found possible potential buyers, that's all that really mattered.

So, bringing the zoomer out onto the stage, he also brought up several pictures of other prototype zoomers.

Nadeko was over to the side of everything. She and Minako were helping Tim out with showing off the zoomer, and so she was on call in a pretty ~~uncomfortable~~ dress and nice ~~also uncomfortable~~ shoes so that she could help out with showing off the zoomers and basically standing there and looking pretty until she was needed.

The zoomers themselves were actually really cool ... she was hoping they'd take off as well as everyone was hoping they would.

"Hey," Tim said, coming over to say hello to the girl who was supposed to be helping him. He thought. Maybe. The dress did give it away.

"Nadeko, right? I'm Tim."

Nadeko looked over toward Tim as he addressed her, smiling nervously at him and bowing politely. Despite being in Canada for as long as she had, she couldn't shake a lot of her Japanese habits.

"Yes! It's nice to meet you!" It was squeaked out. This was Nadeko's first big showcasing sort of thing since she'd started working at Violet systems. It was a little nervewracking, even if she was doing not much more than helping out.

"Nice to meet you, too," Tim smiled reassuringly at her. He understood about the different cultures; you had to, with what he had been doing. He even went with it, giving a small bow in return.

"First time talking to a crowd?" He asked curiously.

These are awesome.

Joe is watching from the back, a little envious, and desperately wishing he possessed a lot more spending munny (or even savings, for that matter).

Tim noticed Joe standing back there, and he waved a hand at his friend, gesturing for him to come to the back so they could talk.

"Joe! Over here," Tim grinned, pointing to the back.

Tucking a stack of flyers under his arm, he headed over to Tim's side, weaving around other onlookers. Could he maybe try a demo-flight? That would be cool...

"Hey. How's it been going?"

"It's going good," Tim grinned. "A lot of people are excited about the zoomer, so, hopefully we'll get a lot of orders. I'd love to see people out on the streets flying, instead of driving."

He glanced at the fliers under his arm. "What about you? How's it going?"

"Not so good." He wrinkles his nose, with a small shrug. "I've been pretty strapped for munny since I quit Merlotte's, so... I'm trying to get more stadium hours, but it looks like that's not happening."

"Your zoomers are so cool, though! Even better than the hoverboard!"

"You're a DJ, right? What else can you do?" Tim asked curiously; while he knew, as Red Robin, he couldn't know as Tim. But, he could help out his friend a little.

"You think so? Want to give it a test ride?"

"Plenty of other stuff, I can learn." He shrugs off easily, just a little cocky with a cooled dose of teenage arrogance. "I had no clue how to DJ, or what it even was, back when I started."

And then the magic words-

"Yeah! Yeah, that would be great!"

"You should see about being a tester for Violet Systems, or other testing companies. You get to play video games all day, pretty much," Tim grinned. "Okay, follow me. This is only one design, and we can't get them to go very high, yet, but I'm working on it."

He pointed towards the exit, where he had another prototype set up. Pulling the keys out of his pocket, he looked at Joe. "Have you ever driven something like this before?"

"Yeah...I talked to Mr Chaolan about that once..." He was still leery about any kind of record slipping into SERO's hands, and he knew the company was still affiliated.

"Nope! I've rode behind someone on a motorcycle before, and there was the time Jinx bought me this old clunky car that I got the hang of driving around for about a week before the thing called it quits-

It can't be any harder than riding a bike though, right?"

Tim didn't press it, and he he was about to toss the keys to Joe before he stopped.

"...Yeah, it's a lot different then a bike. It's more like a motorcycle, in the way that it works. Riding a bike is pretty simple compared to this," He wasn't tossing these to Joe. Nope. "Okay, how about riding it with me? I kind of don't want to see you crash on the first try."

"Sure." He agrees, hiding his disappointment into a sigh that's more typical of a teenager's 'whatever, man'.

"I'll take it for a spin with you. I just wanna see how it feels, going that fast."

"Don't worry about it," Tim nodded, tossing the keys to him and getting on the back part of the zoomer. "Come on, get on. You're going to need to put the key in the ignition, and don't worry when it starts floating. That's kind of the point."

"Who's worried!" Joe can still be overly cocky, especially around boys closer to his own age, people to prove himself capable around. He catches the keys neatly and slides them into the ignition, firing up the engines with a broad grin as the zoomer motor hums beneath him, rising from the ground. "I watched the demo, you know"

"There's a big difference in driving it and watching a demo," Tim grinned, moving forward a little and wrapping his arms around his waist, so he wouldn't fall off.

"Okay. It doesn't go that high, not yet, but you can get it to go pretty fast by pushing forward."

"Heh! Well, I'll give it a go." He nodded, bracing himself and...well, at least he doesn't try to lurch it forward.

Accelerating too fast would probably throw Tim off (or at least that's the excuse he could use, until getting a good handle on the steering)

Tim laughed at that. At least he didn't lurch it forward, though he could have. Instead he leans in a little close so he can talk in his ear.

"Give it a little gas? You can go faster if you push the red button to the side of the handles."

It reminds him of the times he's let Roxas stand on the back pegs of his BMX bike, clutched around his waist.

Joe nods, and pushes forward steadily, gaining speed with wide eyes and a small thrill at floating off the ground. There's no bumps of the pavement beneath them, and it's a surprisingly smooth as a result. He hits the red buttons as instructed, for boost, and leans forward, tongue pressed determinedly between his teeth.

Not that he didn't trust him, but... he really did hope that Joe didn't crash the zoomer. He didn't have an unlimited supply of them, after all. He'd wait to ask him anything else until they were done. Which might be awhile, as they gained speed, and Tim couldn't help but laugh.

If Riku could be a natural on a motorbike, then it should all be smooth sailing here for his replica, right?

....Mostly. There are a few smaller stands he nearly takes out, but for the most part his steering is good, and he doesn't accelerate so fast that he looses control.

A few times around the area, and he eases up on the gas a little to careen to a slow, hissing a "yeesss" of triumph before realizing it's not quite stopping quick enough.

He overshoots where he hoped to stall to a hover, but at least doesn't go slamming into a wall. "It's a fun ride!"
