The Newcomer Business Convention

Who: EVERYONE EVER. OOC coordination post is over here
When: April 20-23, all day.
Where: Somewhere around the Newcomer Community Center.
Summary: Violet Systems gives Newcomer Businesses a chance to shine at a convention of their own. Exhibitors from all industries, as well as fellow newcomers looking for job opportunities are welcome! Also-- there will be a big MAN protest on Saturday.
Warnings: Nothing yet.

Visitors who stop by the great white tent that had gone up near the Newcomer Community Center will first notice a large LED sign before the entrance with a detailed list of participating exhibitors as well as activities for the day. Inside the tent, booths are arranged in rows, where everything from food businesses to the most sophisticated enterprises were on display for everyone to explore.

Get ready to come home with lots of sample products and brochures, guys.

[Hinamori's trying to push her way through the protesters to get back to manning her booth. She finally makes it, stumbling a bit as she emerges from the fray, but dusting herself off and moving on towards the convention when... sploosh. Oh yeah. One of those wonderful mothers just slushied a little girl's head. (So mature.)

Hinamori spins on a dime. Her face cycles through disbelief (as she touches the back of her hair, covered as it is with sticky sugar) then anger, then a flash of pity (for these poor people so afraid of Newcomers they'll resort to this), then back to anger. Righteous, indignant anger.] How— how dare you! How can you call yourself a mother? Is that any way to set an example for your children?

[Her voice draws the attention of the protesters nearby, who flock eagerly towards an obvious target. This could get ugly.]

[ooc: back her up, calm her down, point and laugh— it's all good by me!]

[Angeal can make his way though a crowd in a bit more subtle manner, despite being a large man of six foot plus. Out of the three SOLDIER's there, he has a way of exuding calmness that extends to others. It also likely helped he was staying around the edges of it as well, looking for the Security team leader to see if there was anything he could do before making it to his booth- already, this seemed to be getting out of control.

However, it seems there is trouble right away, and he is not hesitant to act. Murmuring a polite 'excuse me' even as the man pushes his way though to get to the drenched woman. A hand comes down onto her shoulder, and Angeal leans in to keep his words to her.]

Let's get inside, they won't listen to reason. [Angeal will guide Hinamori, if she will let him, heading to the nearest end of the crowd and then ushering her inside as quickly as possible.]

Zoomers from Violet Systems

Tim had said that he could do the talking, or he could do the showing off. Either one was fine with him; as long as the zoomer got shown off, and they found possible potential buyers, that's all that really mattered.

So, bringing the zoomer out onto the stage, he also brought up several pictures of other prototype zoomers.

Nadeko was over to the side of everything. She and Minako were helping Tim out with showing off the zoomer, and so she was on call in a pretty uncomfortable dress and nice also uncomfortable shoes so that she could help out with showing off the zoomers and basically standing there and looking pretty until she was needed.

The zoomers themselves were actually really cool ... she was hoping they'd take off as well as everyone was hoping they would.

Newcomer Greeters & Greeters Protection Project

Some of your local Greeters have set up a table very nicely. There are some lovely computer made posters stating that this is the Newcomer Greeter Program & Greeter Protection Program tables. Here you can find different Greeters or Protectors manning the table, handing out information, coupons, maps and general information about the area, local businesses and apartment listings that are Newcomer friendly.

One Greeter and Protector should be at the table at all times, rotating in and out, so come on up and have a chat.

[Despite the trouble he's been in due to his lust and envy gone out of hand, he did promise Himawari that he would help, what with Sephiroth being too busy with the security for the convention. He made sure not to look at him much while he was there, knowing full well that his thoughts of want would go haywire if he did look a moment too much.

As a representative of the Greeter Protection Project, he was looking his SOLDIER best, complete with the ramrod-straight bearing and commanding voice.

Himawari or any other person at the booth, or a passerby, is free to talk to him.]

Brooke's Restaurant, Brooke's Music Emporium and Pop's Dairy Farm

Brooke’s has a stand open, with delightful smells of food wafting through the area. Signs for $1.00 BBQ are posted all over. ! dollar buys you one item of meet with a free side. It might not be prepared by Sanji, but the food is well done and served on nice paper plates or food boates. There are two soups and a chilli also on sale. 1 Dollar a bowl. No beer or wine is being served, but there are coupons for anyone what shows up to this booth, that they can get a ONE Free drink with order at Brooke’s Restaurant.

There is also a small side stand with musical instruments and flyers displaying Brooke’s Musical Emporium, located right next to the shop. At the same stand, contracts for other businesses can be discussed for shipments of fresh milk. All three have a section for HIRE, with job applications for each business. Newcomers generally won't need to fill one out if they talk to Nami about the job though.

Feel free to get delicious food for cheap, or direct a thread to Nami for a job interview. As the signs will say, she’s hiring for all positions. If you already work for her, feel free to hover around the stand and help!

Siren's Flowers

There's a bright yellow booth with the words Siren's Flowers
clearly visible in front. There are yellow sunflowers everywhere, and lots of brochures and sign-up sheets— for jobs, for interested customers, for growers or delivery services wanting to work with the shop, as well as background information on the history of the shop (founded and run by Newcomers for several years, despite changing owners several times) and their commitment to supporting the Newcomer Fund, NCC, and other Newcomer ventures.

There a young girl who appears about 16, dressed in a sky blue dress, hair up in a bun, flitting around. She talks readily to anyone who happens by, while also finding the time to rush around to many of the other booths, coordinating business connections and trying to meet other Newcomers. Hinamori's not the owner of Siren's Flowers, but she treats it like it is, taking on all the extra tasks that come up and need doing, and somehow finding time to get it all done. It's how she, despite being just a recent hire, ended up getting shoved into being here today—but why would she mind?

[Open to all, for job interviews, flower orders, mingling or whatever! Hiring for pretty much every position you can imagine—greenhouse workers, sales and cashiers, delivery staff, bookkeepers, flower arrangement/bouquet design, cleaning, inventory, maintenance—the list is long!]

One of the many booths for businesses as a large neon sign on the top of it, flashing the letters of a corporation many should be familiar with.

VIOLET SYSTEMS

The booth has many of Violet Systems' merchandise around on the tables for people to look at while in the back of the booth sits a rather impressive looking ride. Sitting behind the booth is a rather well dressed orange cat. He smiles as everyone passes. He's wearing a nice dark suit with red tie and fedora on his head. Someone is taking his job at running the booth very seriously. He opens a black notebook and looks inside every now and then, seeming to be looking at a checklist. He can answer any questions you may have.

Mugshots and Bounty Hunting

Didi has a nice little booth set up for both her bar, and for the bounty hunting business. There's a big sign that says "Mugshots" over part of the stand, and another sign next to it that says "Bounty Hunting Registration". There's a little smiley face next to the bounty hunting sign; maybe she added it to be more festive.

There is a sign up sheet for the bounty hunting business, and there's also a pamphlet with a rundown of what the bounty hunting business is all about.

Some notes:
- Bounty Hunting is a legitimate business in the port.
- It is a Neutral business, though bounties can be taken for a specific company.
- There's a lot of money to be made!
- Bounty Hunters need to choose a codename.
- There are weekly prizes for whoever brings in the most bounties.

As for "Mugshots", Didi is giving out little shot glasses with their name on it! She's also looking to hire another bartender, a waitress, a busboy, and a short order cook to help out around the bar.

Lion's Gate Club

While Raul isn't at the booth, he has a few people milling around and working the crowd. Lion's Gate is a Neutral club, and has a habit of hiring Newcomers for important jobs. The club is a high class club, with an observatory attached to it, so that people can dance under the stars without worrying if they're going to be attacked.

The club is hiring:
Waiters/Waitresses - Need to be able to work nights. Busboys included.
Singers/Bands - Sometimes they like to change it up. Usually it's a small band or a string quartet.
Security Guards - Need to work 3 nights a week and 2 day shifts.
Computer Guards - Experience with computers and security cameras needed.
Bartenders - Need to work 3 nights a week and Saturday or Sunday.
Kitchen Staff - Need gourmet chefs, assistant cooks; must work Friday and Saturday nights.
Public Relations Staff - Works in the office during the day promoting the club.

To show off the club, everyone who visits the booth will receive a ticket for a free dinner on any night of their choosing. Since plates usually go for $200 or more, this is a very exciting deal.

Newcomer Political Party and Newcomer Community Center

Raul Creed is taking some time to sit behind the booth for the Newcomer Political Party, as well as the Newcomer Community Center. The NPP is looking for more workers, as well as more people who'd like to be on the board. The Community Center, on the other hand, needs more workers, and a director, so that things can work smoothly.

The Newcomer Political Party
- Preference given to Newcomers who've been around for 6 months or longer.
- Must have a job; owning or running a business is a plus.
- Preferred Neutral, but will work with SERO and AGI affiliates.
- Needs workers for the new Newcomer Office as well as the NPP.
- No admitted murderers need apply.

The Newcomer Community Center
- Needs teachers for different classes. Contact Re-l Mayer for details.
- Needs a Community Center director who can handle scheduling. Full time job.
- Community Center workers for part-time work at the offices.
- Anyone who'd like to hold group meetings in the center.

[This young man is enjoying the convention. He's happy to see such a large event were all the Newcomers are coming together. He has a soda in one hand and a bag in the other for things he buys. He could use some company though.]

Dead Dog/Rant and Rave

[At the end of the convention's last day, Lee invited all staff, security and exhibitors to a small get together at his condominium's poolside. The outcome wasn't so bad-- there was a slight profit from it, although it was mostly break-even as not a lot of people attended on all days.

No matter the outcome, though, Lee thought that everyone deserved this little treat from him.]

[There's a certain ex-idol wandering through the condo, shoes off and in one hand, a drink in the other. She's in the last costume she was wearing during the last day, which was little more than a fairly nice little black dress, but the shoes were certainly not kind to her on any day and she's glad to be out of them.]
