Halloween Masquerade Ball

When: October 27th, 7:00pm till Morning Sirens.
Where: The Newcomer Community Center
Summary: Time for some Halloween Masquerade Fun!
Warnings: Anything is possible!

The Community Center has been transformed into a sophisticated autumn dance hall, with bits of Halloween decorations around the room. When the door opens, you find yourself in the hall before the main room, someone ready to take your coat, if you have one, and another ready to give out bracelets. That way no one who shouldn't be drinking won't be able to.



The dance floor is surrounded by a number of small, round tables, each with an elaborate centerpiece of cobwebs. There are lights within the hanging decorations, with draped fabric over the sides, to give it a more close knit feeling. At the head of all the tables is a bar serving free drinks and cocktails to anyone over age. There is also a buffet



And then, of course, there is the dance floor, where people are dancing to the music supplied by two talented DJs, lights blinking and the room ready for everyone to have a good time.



Last call for food is two hours before sirens, and then the last call for drinks is an hour before the party finishes. You might want to be careful when it gets to be that time, though. Around 1:00 am, the party is going to change, due to a series of unfortunate events. You may not be very hungry or thirsty for awhile after.

[Alois leans down a little to accommodate her, which is so strange, because they used to be closer in height. He wants to cringe at himself. So weird. When he draws back, though, he's bright, of course.]

I wanted tonight to be good, that's why! Now then. It's a lovely setup, isn't it? I wonder who all has come after all... Oh, Ahiru, you have to go dancing. Your skirt will look so good when you spin.

[motioned]

It'll be perfect! And of course I will.

[Almost experimentally, she twirls around once, watching the fabric swell out around her before falling back to her legs.]

Actually, do you want to go now?

[faking]

[She's so cute that Alois has to bring his fingers to his mouth, because his smile's gone too gentle. He can nearly hear Luca trying to name her Macken, trying to claim her as a sister. She would have been good for Jim and Luca Macken, but only if they'd had a nice house to grow up in. There are a lot of what ifs that he decides not to concentrate on.

Instead he lowers his hand and offers it to her, a gentleman in his way.]

See, it looks really good! Let's, let's, we'll spin till we're dizzy, all right? And they've something nice playing so I'm sure we'll have fun right away.

[motioned]

[She beams before curtsying and taking his hand in hers, leading him out onto the dance floor.]

It is nice music, isn't it?

[faking]

Nice enough for tonight, at least... [He pulls her easily into proper form, holding himself elegantly, acting like he dances with ladies all the time, which is absolutely not the case. And yes, he does manage to be actually elegant despite the more contemporary music, he's made sure to practice that.] I'm glad we came. I feel like I haven't been out to have fun in a long time.

[motioned]

[She takes the right posture as well, making sure to correct herself so she doesn't make a mistake in the stance.]

I'm glad we came, too! You seem like you've done this a lot.

[faking]

What, danced? You know, I'm actually used to being lead, not leading. [Even though he does it easily.] I started learning when I was twelve, but I liked it so much that it was the only thing I wanted to study. Oh, Ahiru, there's naught a thing better to do than the tango, did you know that? Just, I don't know, dancing at all is so... [He sighs, eyes shut, face tilted towards the ceiling.] If everyone danced a little every day, we'd probably all feel better.

[motioned]

[And she grins a bit brighter, nodding at that as she's spun across the floor.]

Tango's not really the kind I like best, but I really love dancing, more than almost anything. I love it more than almost anything.

[faking]

I'm glad. [He squeezes her hand, but fleetingly.] No matter what, I'm glad you have things you love. The only thing more awful than loving something is not having anything to love at all. I like your heart the way it is, okay? I know you won't ever change it, but I have to tell you not to anyway.
