Halloween Masquerade Ball

Who: The Newcomer Political Party and The Newcomers!
When: October 27th, 7:00pm till Morning Sirens.
Where: The Newcomer Community Center
Summary: Time for some Halloween Masquerade Fun!
Warnings: Anything is possible!

The Community Center has been transformed into a sophisticated autumn dance hall, with bits of Halloween decorations around the room. When the door opens, you find yourself in the hall before the main room, someone ready to take your coat, if you have one, and another ready to give out bracelets. That way no one who shouldn't be drinking won't be able to.



The dance floor is surrounded by a number of small, round tables, each with an elaborate centerpiece of cobwebs. There are lights within the hanging decorations, with draped fabric over the sides, to give it a more close knit feeling. At the head of all the tables is a bar serving free drinks and cocktails to anyone over age. There is also a buffet



And then, of course, there is the dance floor, where people are dancing to the music supplied by two talented DJs, lights blinking and the room ready for everyone to have a good time.



Last call for food is two hours before sirens, and then the last call for drinks is an hour before the party finishes. You might want to be careful when it gets to be that time, though. Around 1:00 am, the party is going to change, due to a series of unfortunate events. You may not be very hungry or thirsty for awhile after.

Hey, what would you be doing? [He's leading Ciel out to the dance floor.] If you were just at home tonight, what would you be doing?

Playing a game, perhaps. Having a snack.

[faking]

Oh, you can do those things here. Nothing exciting? [He's smiling because he already knows the answer (being that Ciel is pretty boring).]

[littlest_lord]

Those are exciting.

[faking]

Exciting things are exciting, Ciel, your exciting things are... [He waves a hand vaguely, as though that should convey the idea.] Don't you like the idea of adventures? Or mischief? At all? [And now he's pulling Ciel closer, to bring them both to proper stance. Ciel will probably ruin proper stance immediately, but it's important to at least try.]

There's nothing wrong with mischief, at least in moderation.

Ah. Well, obviously. Everything in moderation. [Bullshit. Alois doesn't believe in that word.

He leads Ciel into the first steps.]

If I ask you what you like, will you tell me about things other than pies?

[littlest_lord]

_{[Ciel doesn't like being led, but he's still rather poor at dancing. There's no complaint.]}

I like things other than pie. You make it out as if I'm so simple.

Oh, you know what I mean, though. Just like if you asked me what I like, I'd promise not to say 'shoes.'

[littlest_lord]

You'd say boots, though.

No! I'd say, tropical fish, or grasshoppers. And I'll bet you didn't know I like all you can eat buffets, did you?

[littlest_lord]

...No, I didn't know that.

_[Pause.]

When were you at an all you can eat buffet?

[faking]

Well, I mean, I like the idea, I guess. An all you can eat buffet is probably one of the best ways of reading everyone's thoughts that man has ever come up with. You'd be able to tell how hungry they are by how fast they move, you'd be able to tell how greedy they are by who they do or don't let in front of them... and you could tell everyone's favorite things to eat. Hey, want to lead me? Anyway, from what I hear, all the food is really greasy, too, and I like that.

Too much grease gives me a stomach ache...and no, you can lead. You're far better at it anyway.

[faking]

I practiced a lot, [he says, obviously prideful. Dancing is one of his finest skills.]

[littlest_lord]

I think even with all the practice in the world, I'm destined forever to have two left feet.

[faking]

My father once told me, 'Dancing is one of the most decadent forms of entertainment.' I couldn't not learn, after that. [It sets him to a giggle, as he sways with Ciel.]

[littlest_lord]

You learned well. _{[It's not something Ciel can laugh about however, knowing who 'father' truly is.]}

Some day, I'd like to show you the Argentine. I'm very proud of it.

[littlest_lord]

Hopefully with another dance partner.

[faking]

Obviously. [He takes his hand from Ciel's waist long enough to poke his nose.] If you tried to lift me, I'd break you.

And I'd rather not break.
