Halloween Masquerade Ball
Who: The Newcomer Political Party and The Newcomers!
When: October 27th, 7:00pm till Morning Sirens.
Where: The Newcomer Community Center
Summary: Time for some Halloween Masquerade Fun!
Warnings: Anything is possible!
The Community Center has been transformed into a sophisticated autumn dance hall, with bits of Halloween decorations around the room. When the door opens, you find yourself in the hall before the main room, someone ready to take your coat, if you have one, and another ready to give out bracelets. That way no one who shouldn't be drinking won't be able to.

The dance floor is surrounded by a number of small, round tables, each with an elaborate centerpiece of cobwebs. There are lights within the hanging decorations, with draped fabric over the sides, to give it a more close knit feeling. At the head of all the tables is a bar serving free drinks and cocktails to anyone over age. There is also a buffet

And then, of course, there is the dance floor, where people are dancing to the music supplied by two talented DJs, lights blinking and the room ready for everyone to have a good time.

Last call for food is two hours before sirens, and then the last call for drinks is an hour before the party finishes. You might want to be careful when it gets to be that time, though. Around 1:00 am, the party is going to change, due to a series of unfortunate events. You may not be very hungry or thirsty for awhile after.

[And he turns, arching his eyebrows at Christina's outfit.]
Slightly stereotypical, don't you think?
no subject
[She folds her arms over her chest.] So are you actually here to have fun or are you 'networking?'
no subject
Both, actually.
[Mostly the latter, but Crowley enjoys free liquor and he legitimately enjoys people, from time to time. It just depends on the company.
He sips his drink.]
Castiel is around somewhere, unless he abandoned me.
no subject
If he did, you're going to need a dance partner, now aren't you? [She rests a hand on his arm, all mischievous grins.] Maybe it'll drag him out of the woodwork.
[Because she is totally not above seeing if Castiel gets jealous of Crowley's teenage pet Antichrist dancing with his man. She has a totally valid image of their relationship in her head.]
no subject
[It's said dryly, but he allows himself to be moved to the floor. He's not entirely opposed to dancing.]
I doubt he'll care.
no subject
[She curtseys, going for the full monty of this act.] If nothing else, he'll probably wonder why you're dancing with a child.
[Except not, because Lilith.]
no subject
He is not going to bow. Kings of Hell do not bow.]
You would be shocked at how often this happens to me.
[And the demon extends his hand. Let's get this over with. 8|]
And my accent sounds nothing like that.
no subject
It does a little. [She rolls her eyes, because semantics, Crowley.] Did you ever think it would come to this? King of Hell, slowly working on building an empire in possessed Canada, living out a sitcom with an angel... Having a decent rapport with the daughter of the guy you overthrew? [Obviously, she's being sarcastic, but it's still odd to think about. A year ago she was blowing up New Jersey and writing off humanity as a bust. Now she was a superhero and her mentor figures were the self-proclaimed king of hell, the daughter of an archangel, and an old Asian man who would put Mr. Miyagi to pasture.]
no subject
[It's said somewhat reproachfully, but her points are taken into consideration as he falls quiet, to actually contemplate that.]
-- I have nothing to fear in going home. This place is a pause button insofar as if I leave, I won't die. I won't even suffer. I rule the known universe -- there is no other player but me anymore.
[Christina could take that however she liked.]
no subject
So it sucks, basically. [She raises an eyebrow, questioning. She wouldn't be offended if he said yes. It's not like she's not looking at exactly the same situation, if "leader of the free world" could be synonymous with "leader of the smoking crater you turned the world into." Sometimes it occurs to her that she'd go back to being that and forget everything and it scares her.] In comparison to being the biggest fish in the pond.
no subject
[He stills abruptly, a hand still at her waist, but no longer actually dancing.]
Castiel included.
no subject
You know what they don't tell you about being on the top? [Because this much she knows without having actually been there, herself. It's how these stories end.] It's lonely.
[Sentimentality isn't Crowley's thing. He'd never admit to being lonely, so she doesn't wait for him to derisively write the comment off, before she plows on, just standing there in a frozen dance, while the rest of the party ignores them.]
But I guess we all have to make choices and decide what's more important. Having everything. [She can almost make Castiel out in the crowd somewhere.] Or having something that actually means something.
[That said, she pulls away a bit and points in Castiel's direction.] Either way, we all probably go home eventually. You might as well enjoy the problems.
no subject
Still, there is a point, in Christina's words, and he knows where she's going with this before she finishes, and Crowley lets out a soft groan of irritability as he lets himself be turned slightly in Christina pulling away.]
I absolutely refuse to allow you to tell me to seize the day with someone who can't tell the difference between haute couture and K-Mart.
no subject
But it's Crowley and if she's learned anything in a year, it's that he can take things to heart without ever admitting he so much as has one. It's why she likes him. No bullshit. No fluff. But it doesn't mean he doesn't care.]
You're ruining the moment, Crowley.
no subject
-- you remind me very much of my former boss. Her name was Lilith.
[It's said rather seriously, for Crowley, as he takes half a step forward, so the conversation is entirely private.]
She never allowed me a longer leash than absolutely necessary and was never very impressed with my attitude, but she never pressed me to understand whatever wisdom she was imparting upon me, because she always understood that I was listening.
[In short -- he understands. He knows. And he knows that Castiel is going to die, regardless of what he does about it. He can't change what he's done or what he is about to do. The only thing he can do is ensure it doesn't happen here.]
