Halloween Masquerade Ball

Who: The Newcomer Political Party and The Newcomers!
When: October 27th, 7:00pm till Morning Sirens.
Where: The Newcomer Community Center
Summary: Time for some Halloween Masquerade Fun!
Warnings: Anything is possible!

The Community Center has been transformed into a sophisticated autumn dance hall, with bits of Halloween decorations around the room. When the door opens, you find yourself in the hall before the main room, someone ready to take your coat, if you have one, and another ready to give out bracelets. That way no one who shouldn't be drinking won't be able to.



The dance floor is surrounded by a number of small, round tables, each with an elaborate centerpiece of cobwebs. There are lights within the hanging decorations, with draped fabric over the sides, to give it a more close knit feeling. At the head of all the tables is a bar serving free drinks and cocktails to anyone over age. There is also a buffet



And then, of course, there is the dance floor, where people are dancing to the music supplied by two talented DJs, lights blinking and the room ready for everyone to have a good time.



Last call for food is two hours before sirens, and then the last call for drinks is an hour before the party finishes. You might want to be careful when it gets to be that time, though. Around 1:00 am, the party is going to change, due to a series of unfortunate events. You may not be very hungry or thirsty for awhile after.

[Gustavo has seen enough of this man to recognize him despite the mask; it's turned out that putting his inner eyes on Vesper Lynd has revealed an entire wealth of information about some of the island's more interesting movers and shakers. He's certainly seen enough to know that Tonegawa would be a good man to meet and a better man to befriend, if only very quietly.

Still, the party is bustling enough that he feels comfortable insinuating himself near the masked man, smiling when he turns to him as if bumping into him entirely by accident.]

Oh, hello, sir. I don't believe we've met. [He holds out a hand.] Gustavo Fring.

[That's just the thing with parties like these, isn't it? They take all that potentially fraught weight out of the manners of meeting: should I approach? Would it be prudent to hold back? But there's far more freedom to move in such a crowded place and Tonegawa is already prepared to greet the man with a smile when he introduces himself, taking his hand firmly.]

Yukio Tonegawa. [First, last- Western order. Most of his latest acquaintances seem to be Western these days, an unsurprising fact given that he's now in Canada. He tilts his head.] You'll have to forgive my memory- but I'm sure I'm familiar with your name, even if not your face. [A slight curl of the lip; as if he'd know his face anyway under the circumstances.]

Ah, perhaps not. [He gives a small, somewhat self-deprecating laugh, giving his hand a warm shake.] I'm still very much a newcomer, even among Newcomers. You might have heard that I'm planning to open a restaurant down in the mall, perhaps? I haven't done nearly enough publicizing, though.

Still new and already planning on opening a business? Then you've already done more than most. [He can't help but look a little impressed, his expression just slightly changing behind the mask; a curious tilt of the head, a focusing of the eyes.] Did you side with one of the companies?

[businessman]

Not only planning. It's opening tomorrow. [He shrugs modestly.] And independently run, for the moment. In the end, I realized that I would hate to think what the original investors would say if they knew I had affiliated with another conglomerate without their consent.
