Oh, um... I'm not so hungry. But thank you.

Oh...well, if it gets cold, you can always ask a nurse to heat it up for you when you do get hungry...?

I promise it's completely, one hundred percent vegetarian.

[motioned]

Yeah, I'm sure they would do that for me! [She smiles feebly.]

Okay. Thank you for bringing it, Larry.

[laurice]

No problem. It's the least I can do...

And if you're bored, I know just the thing. Or things.

[motioned]

Really? What thing?

[laurice]

[He digs into his paper bag and brings out a sketchpad in one hand, and several colored papers in another.]

Art! Origami, drawing...if you're tired of staring up at the hospital ceiling, you can do something!

[motioned]

Oh, wow! You really brought all this stuff for me?

[laurice]

Sure did! [Larry looks pretty proud of himself.] You'll never, ever be bored again.

[motioned]

I don't know how to do origami, though... Will you teach me?

[laurice]

Of course! It might seem hard at first, but once you get the hang of it, you can make just about anything.

[He separates a yellow sheet of paper from its brethren.]

[motioned]

Well, I've got a bunch of free time here! So I bet it'll be fun.

[She watches, curious.]

[laurice]

[Larry begins folding the sheet of paper into something that looks like an incomplete boat.

Then he begins doing the same to several other colored sheets until he has a few folded pieces that look the same on his lap.]

[motioned]

Wow, you're really good at that, Larry!

[laurice]

You ain't seen nothin' yet!

[Once he has eight angular pieces, he starts putting them together into a star.]

[motioned]

How many different things can you make?

[laurice]

I can make animals like birds and turtles, more stars like this one, boats, planes, snowflakes...I'd say a lot. But there's a lot more I haven't tried yet.

[motioned]

Wow! Can you show me more?

[laurice]
