[Sora hadn't heard about Ichigo's admittance to the hospital until he'd gone to visit Ahiru and Roxas. Feels like so many of his friends have taken ill these days. It's frustrating not being able to help. Sora's used to being the one charging in, to having something physical to do to help his friends whether it was fighting or seeking out something they needed. This? This is just a waiting game, and one that's driving him insane.

When the other stirs, he sounds hopeful.]

Ichigo?

[Ichigo is dozing lightly when he hears someone call his name. He pries one eye open, then groans a little as he recognises his visitor.

Man. Talk about an image destroyer. Nothing worse than seeing a friend when you're sick and pathetic in hospital. Ichigo would try and pull of his usual frown but it gives him headaches.

Sitting up has proven to be a pretty big harbinger of dizziness and nausea, so he acknowledges Sora with a feeble raise of his hand and a croaky:]

Yo.

Hey. Just heard you were here. Thought I'd drop in and see how you were doing.

[Though obviously, from how worn out Ichigo looks, it's not looking good. He's not about to tell Ichigo he looks like a train ran him hover, though. Even if it's true.]

Heh, I've been worse, this is nothin'.

[Fever dreams, nausea, dizziness and aches aside, this really doesn't compare to being run through with a sword in Ichigo's mind. He's not had the chance to see himself in a mirror so he has no idea just how sick he looks, and that's probably a good thing.]

You doing okay?

[It's funny- Ichigo's the one sick and he's the one asking Sora if he's okay.] Not even a sniffle.

What'd the docs say about when you're getting out?

Heh, lucky you.

[He sighs and looks up at the ceiling tiles. He's already counted them six times since he woke up.]

They're not letting me go anywhere 'til my fever comes down. Unohana-san's being pretty strict and she's not the kinda doctor you argue with.

[Poor guy's been cooped up for a while, hasn't he?]

Probably a good idea. No tiring yourself out, or you might get worse!

Who's Unohana-san? [The name doesn't ring a bell. Must be a friend of his.]

She's my doctor. Sorta. She's from the same world I'm from so I guess she's just looking out for me.

[It's... kind of humbling to be attended to by one of Soul Society's most respected captains. She's certainly got a better bedside manner than his father ever had.]

She's a great doctor, you just don't wanna disobey her.

Really? She must be pretty scary.

[Especially if someone like Ichigo's wary of making her mad.]

[Okay that... just about gets his face to relax into a semblance of a smile. 'Scary' doesn't even begin to cover it.]

Making her mad'd be like pissing off your school principal, only the principal's about a thousand years old and probably knows about a that many ways to make your life miserable if you get on her bad side, but she'd do it nicely.

A thousand years!?

[And then Sora had the distinct picture of a wrinkled old woman sitting at a principal's desk, eyes flashing like lightning.]

Or something. I tried to ask my friend once how old she was exactly, but she kicked me in the shins and told me it was rude to ask.

[Sigh.]

I don't get why girls are so weird about that shit.

Yeah! Kairi was saying it's bad to ask that too!

I don't get it. It's not like another birthday is a bad thing. Older and wiser, right? Plus you get to do more stuff when you're older.

Yeah. I don't see why they'd have a problem if they look younger than they are. People say I look older than I am all the time and it doesn't bother me, and there's no way Rukia looks her age. She looks younger than I do.

[But Rukia's weird in general. So.]

It's weird being an adult now; you gotta be twenty back home.

[Is she another doctor or something? How injured does Ichigo get that he needs two?]

[More than once for various and mostly well deserved reasons, but hey who's counting? Or even considering that they'd be deserved for that matter.]

[And now he feels bad because he knows exactly how it feels to be
the subject of speculation and gossip like that, which leads into a pretty violent coughing fit.
