Summary: Studying at Dorian's apartment after seeing to the 'mildew' problem. Hattie's paranoia leads her to the apartment.

Still a little frustrated over Hattie's behavior of late, not to mention a few other things, Ella had agreed to see to Dorian's mildew problem. She was dressed in an altered version of the French Maid outfit that Haruhi had snipped to h-ll and back, having sewn a layered skirt over it so she didn't embarrass herself or give people the wrong idea. A knock at the door heralded Her arrival at the apartment. After they tackled this issue, they could work on those French lessons.

[When it comes to Ella, Hattie's patience is shorter than usual. After getting worried, she went ahead and headed to Dorian's place.. You know, to make sure that her stepsister was behaving. So! The doorbell rang once more.]

Well if it's been there for weeks, another day probably won't make too much of a difference. But let me make sure there isn't any damage anywhere el-

[ She pauses at the doorbell, glancing curiously at Dorian. ]

Were you expecting company? You can get it if you like, I won't be long.

[He excuses himself, stepping to the door.

As it swings open, he grins when he sees Hattie]

Well, hello there. This is an unexpected surprise!

[ "Dear"? Wait, did he call her that before? Way to clue in now, Ella. She hoped he didn't call her that in front of Hattie; she didn't need the girl to jump to more conclusions. Although she didn't know who had come to the door, it was clearly someone Dorian was pleased to see. She busies herself in the bedroom, checking the closet and for any cracks even though she had NO WORLDLY idea what she was even looking for. Once she was done here, she'd probably have to head back home before Hattie got paranoid. ]

[Hattie gives a fluttering laugh.]

Oh Mister Gray, a pleasure to see you as well! I had just wanted to make certain that things are going well and that my employee is.. Doing her job.

[Hattie couldn't help but lean in a bit to try and peek over Dorian's shoulder.]

[Dorian understands, or thinks he does. He gives a light chuckle. Women are such jealous, squabbling creatures at times.]

She's doing her job, very well, thank you.

[ Ella would probably be a lot less pleasant to Dorian if she knew that's what he thought. XD Hearing Hattie's voice, Ella grimaced slightly, but walked out of the bedroom, smoothing the wrinkles in her skirt from when she had been on the floor, checking for additional signs of taint. ]

It looks like you're all clear, Dorian. Like I offered, I'll ask around about darkness protection for homes and see if we can't fix that leak for you. I might still have the number of the company that helped me last year, when I had that problem.

[ The same smile on her face, Ella curtseyed to Hattie since she still had to defer to the woman. And oh, how it grated. ]

I didn't expect to see you here, Hattie.

O- Oh! Well.. Um.. Of course!

[She couldn't help but feel a touch disappointed that Ella hadn't done anything at all! But once Ella stepped out from.. Somewhere, her smile ended up quite forced.]

Hello, Ella. What do you mean 'darkness protection'? [Accusing glare. That's code for 'hanky panky' isn't it! Admit it!]

Excuse me. I'm afraid there was a bit of a problem. I thought it was mildew but it turned out to be something a bit more serious. Do you know anyone who does darkness protection?

[ Silently, Ella just pointed at Dorian by way of explanation. NO, 'Darkness Protection' is not code for hanky panky. GOSH, what kind of a girl do you take her for? ]

It was a simple enough mistake, but it's good that it was caught before it turned into something more serious.

[ She REALLY doubted Hattie knew anyone who did darkness protection, but she'll give the other girl the benefit of the doubt. ]

[Hattie stood there awkwardly for a moment, giving a deer in the headlights look at the question. She doesn't get paid to answer questions like that!!]

O- Oh.. I.. I usually ask for Nelliel's help protecting me from darkness monsters. I recommend just asking any friends who look strong. Like Byakuya, perhaps.

[Dorian raises his eyebrows and tries not to look amused.]

Your advice is to find someone strong to protect me?

My lady hasn't a bad idea, though it would be more useful for when you're outside, rather than the leakage in the apartment.

[ Hattie starts staring at Dorian, charmed yet again.]

Well I'm sure your sister here can still earn her keep even if she can't fix the darkness leak. I'll find some chores for her. Shall I?

[ Ella's smile seemed more plastered on at that statement. Chores. Greeeeeeeat. And she can't even refuse if she wanted to, chirping instead. ]

IF that is what my lady sister wishes, I would be more than happy to fulfill any chores you set to me!

[Hattie gives an excited squeal to the pat, loses her senses and starts laughing for a good fifteen seconds. Thankfully she doesn't hyperventilate and regains her breath, hand to her chest while fanning herself with her free hand.]

[She pretends her legs get weak so she can lean against Dorian. There's no way in hell Ella is showing her to a seat. Go do some work, you bum!]

[Dorian knows a fake faint when he sees it, and he believes he understands. Such techniques are typical of women. He holds her, still laughing to himself, his vanity tickled.]

[He begins to walk her to a chair.]

Ella, my darling, could you please get your sister some water? She appears to be... [He smirks.] Overcome.

[ Oh. My. GOD. This is painful. Physically painful. Ella inwardly suppresses a groan, not sure which was worse - Hattie's obviousness or Dorian just eating it up. Just... someone kill her so she doesn't have to see this. ]

... I'd be happy to fetch water for her. But don't call me darling. [ The LAST thing she needs is for Hattie to get the wrong idea because Dorian had a habit of using such terms for the women around him. And off she pops to get water! ]

[Too late. Hattie is already frowning again and shooting another glare at Ella. What's with this 'my darling' thing?? She even glares at her back until she's gone- Now she has him to herself, and gladly follows his lead.]

Forgive Ella, she lets her emotions get the better of her sometimes. Thank you so much for your help, I'm so sorry for being a bother~.
