Who: William T. Spears and Grell Sutcliff
When: Backdated to earlier this evening, around dinner time.
Where: Their flat
Summary: William's got his memory back, and after finding out how he regained it, he has a few things to say to Grell.
Warnings: May escalate from PGish to more of a NSFW rating, so just be forewarned!

[ It would be a severe understatement to say that William merely disapproved of the method Grell had used to revive his memory. A contract, honestly? He probably should have seen this coming. Grell was never one to think things through. Even now, with the deed done, he was trying to convince William that the trade off wasn't that bad at all...

William grumbles something to himself while he stirs up the contents of the frying pan in front of him. Despite all this contract stuff, he'd told Grell they could redo the whole dinner that was completely spoiled due to William coming home and kicking Grell out. He looks to the side where Grell is attempting to complete his half of the cooking. ]

Grell, do not fill the pot up that much. It will just boil over.

[ How this guy managed to feed himself without William there was a mystery. ]

Mmmmm~hmmmmmm~♪

[ He hums tunelessly to himself. His half of the cooking involves boiling pasta. How hard can that be? ]

It's fine.

[ He hoists the pot onto the stove, flicks the dial to "high," and sets the lid in place. He has been bouncing around all day, irrepressibly ebullient.

It's a bit of a show, really. He knows William is displeased with him; but if he makes a point of being happy, perhaps William won't berate him too badly? ]

[ William merely huffs, taking the pot back off the stove, emptying some of the water into the sink, and placing it back to the burner. He turns the dial down a notch and leaves the lid half on. ]

Pay attention. I am trying to help you learn to cook better.

[ Despite Grell's bouncy attempts, William still sounds as grumpy as ever! ]

[ Grell folds his arms, affecting a pout. ]

But it'll take longer to boil that way.

Mmmmmmm, I suppose we'll have to think of something to pass the time!

[ Another bounce and he has grabbed William, holding him from behind. ]

[ Well, you can just cling there, Grell. William is busy cooking up the meat and sauce for the pasta. ]

You can set the table, if you are so bored with waiting.

[ Still clinging to William's neck, Grell inhales. Despite the pungent aroma of meat and garlic and tomatoes and rosemary in the air, he can still smell - William. William smells like soap and fine wool and ink and post-it notes - and DEATH, just a little. Lilies and eucalyptus. ]

Did I say I was bored?

[ The water begins to boil, so William takes on Grell's duty - as is usually the case! - and stirs in the pasta. ]

Oh~! I was supposed to do that, wasn't I?

[ He hops down from his perch and tries to wrest the wooden spoon away from William. ]

Let me do it, it's myyyyyyyyyy job~!

Honestly, why can't you be this eager in regards to paperwork?

[ He willingly hands over the spoon, though. ]

Now, turn the heat down slightly. It will continue to boil this way, but will not spill over, causing a mess.

Silly man~!

[ He continues stirring, but neglects to turn the heat down. ]

If you'd let me sit in your lap while I was doing it, my paperwork would have been finished to perfection every time~!

[ Thus, William is forced to turn it down. Big surprise! ]

I would not get my own paperwork done, if you were seated in my lap all day.

[ Of course, he means cause he wouldn't be able to reach his desk properly. ]

[ His attention wanders away from the pasta and towards William once more. ]

I suppose we'd just be a big ~distraction~ to one another.

[ William bats the little heart that drifts over to him away. ]

Stop. Go sit at the table while I finish this up.

[ He fusses about, draining the pasta and adding it to the meat sauce. Once he pours the meal into a large, round serving dish, he transports it to the table and takes a seat. ]

Ooooooh, if you insist, darling~♥

What a good man you are, taking such good care of your dear little Grell.

[ Grell is still bright, still bubbly. But his intuition tells him that William is preparing to go into lecture mode. Thus, even though his grin is as wide (and toothy!) as ever, under the table he's wringing his hands. ]

[ Oh, Grell knows William all too well! He serves the two of them, then pours them each some wine. He only fills Grell's glass half way, well aware that alcohol wasn't Grell's drink of choice. Still, it complemented the meal.

The two barely manage to get a bite in before William begins. ]

I hope you understand why I am so frustrated with this entire situation.

[ Grell reaches daintily for his wine glass - and takes a big gulp from it! ]

Ahahahaha, Frus~trated?

[ He's still speaking in his "performance voice." He sets the glass down, unsteadily. ]

I can't think why. I've done everything I can think of to ~please~ you. But if you've got any particular suggestions, sweetie, I'd love to hear them~♥

[ He sighs heavily, taking his own wine glass in hand and mimicking Grell's sip. ]

That demonic cat obviously has some ulterior motive. It would not be making contracts if it wasn't benefiting in some way.

[ Grell makes a show of shrugging, his arms held wide. ]

So what if he does?

I'm perfectly ~happy~ with the arrangement, darling. I've got you, I've a got a new outfit, and I've got a license to kill, hn~!

[ And HUNK RADAR, though he won't go into the details... ]

So if he benefits too, then good for him!

[ He clinks his glass against William's - and downs the rest of it! ]

I have no regrets. Honestly.

[ Considering the topic of conversation being demons, William suddenly goes very quiet. Where he normally would have ranted on and on about how horrid demons were an how foolish Grell was for making a deal with one, something is keeping his mouth shut.

Guilt.

Thus, William continues to eat his meal, quietly. ]

[ Grell swirls his fork, capturing the pasta and then stuffing it into his mouth. It's delicious; he shuts his eyes, luxuriating in the sensation.

...Presently, however, he notices that William isn't saying anything. He fidgets, crossing and uncrossing his legs under the table. He really is trying to be quiet, too. ]

Is...

[ But he can't help himself! ]

Is something the matter?

Don't you like it? I think it's delicious. Any~thing you make for me is to D~I~E~ for, you know ☆

The food tastes fine.

[ He refills his wine glass, as well as Grell's, before taking another long swig from it.

The silence remains as William continues to eat and drink up his wine. He's getting a slight buzz from the alcohol, but it's not enough to settle his mind, right now. Finally, he looks up. ]

Why did you forgive me so easily?

Ahhhh~!

[ Grell's hand fumbles for his wine glass, but he doesn't drink from it. ]

W-what do you mean?

Exactly what I said. Why did you make a contract with a demon after the way I treated you?

[ He's looking Grell straight in the eye now, his tone dead-serious, as always. ]

I don't--

You didn't--

[ His words die on his lips. He's silent for a time. And then: ]

Look - you were you, but you weren't the you that I--

[ He looks down, avoiding William's gaze. ]

It made me realise - the only way, the only place that you could possibly love me was here. That if we were home, if we were anywhere else, we'd just...

I had to make the best of things while I could, you know?

That is not how it should be.

[ Vague as ever!

He takes another long sip, closing his eyes and breathing out slowly. There's actually more than just guilt lingering on his mind. Something else, that he has just as little experience with. Nervousness. ]

[ Grell notices, acutely, William's demeanor. Something is not right. Grell drops his fork; it bounces off the table and onto the floor with a clatter. ]

What're you saying?

That you shouldn't love me at all?

[ He stands up, knocking his chair backwards. ]
