Halloween Masquerade Ball
Who: The Newcomer Political Party and The Newcomers!
When: October 27th, 7:00pm till Morning Sirens.
Where: The Newcomer Community Center
Summary: Time for some Halloween Masquerade Fun!
Warnings: Anything is possible!
The Community Center has been transformed into a sophisticated autumn dance hall, with bits of Halloween decorations around the room. When the door opens, you find yourself in the hall before the main room, someone ready to take your coat, if you have one, and another ready to give out bracelets. That way no one who shouldn't be drinking won't be able to.

The dance floor is surrounded by a number of small, round tables, each with an elaborate centerpiece of cobwebs. There are lights within the hanging decorations, with draped fabric over the sides, to give it a more close knit feeling. At the head of all the tables is a bar serving free drinks and cocktails to anyone over age. There is also a buffet

And then, of course, there is the dance floor, where people are dancing to the music supplied by two talented DJs, lights blinking and the room ready for everyone to have a good time.

Last call for food is two hours before sirens, and then the last call for drinks is an hour before the party finishes. You might want to be careful when it gets to be that time, though. Around 1:00 am, the party is going to change, due to a series of unfortunate events. You may not be very hungry or thirsty for awhile after.

Somehow or other he has managed to procure a long frock coat, made of velvet to keep off the chill. Unbeknownst to him it's purple, which is his favorite color, or was. His top hat, jauntily tilted, is a necessary prop. And, of course, he's wearing a silken cravat, tied in a fancy bow. He looks like nothing so much as a white-haired Willy Wonka, the effect made stronger by the fact that his pockets are full of chocolate and candy, which he's offering to everybody. ]
Good evening, good evening, how are you?
[ It's worth noting that this candy is of the Hillsdale Halloween Prank variety. Otherwise he'd be hoarding it for himself. ]
no subject
Good evening...

[ If he was embarrassed about that little encounter at the hospital, he's certainly not going to show it! ]
And how are yooooooooou, Mister Allen? Great party, right? ♥
[ He's got a cluster of caramel worms in the palm of his hand, which he offers to Allen. There's that twinkle in his eye, however, as if he just might... JERK THEM AWAY! ]
no subject
Love isn't anything to be ashamed of, you know.Well, someone's enthusiastic. Allen stares quite intensely at the candy, but DOESN'T TAKE IT... He's not falling for it this time.
In a pleasant tone;]
Mm, it is. You've been enjoying yourself, Mr. Hatter?
no subject
NO ONE MUST KNOW HIS PAAAAAAIN!He can feel the intensity of Allen's gaze. Just as pleasantly: ]
I have indeed.
[ Crinkle crinkle crinkle. He rolls the cellophane wrapping between his fingertips, just so. Isn't that enticing? It's candy, Allen, candy. And it's here, as opposed to the candy on the buffet table, which is just so faaaaaaar away! ]
no subject
But he doesn't like it when cruel, nasty people yank proffered candy out of his reach.
But candy...]
...Are you handing that candy out to everyone?
no subject
Weeelllllll, not just everyone.
[ He snaps his fingers; the candy disappears. ]
But... I suppose... for a friend of Gilbert's...
[ He makes a fist and waves it back and forth. When he opens it again, there's the candy, sitting on his palm. ]
no subject
Well. Okay, it can't hurt. He reaches for one...]
Ah. Thank you...

Oh, my apologi-- is that candy?
no subject
[ Oh, it's you. Break beams, widely. ]
Why yes - it is!
[ He holds out, between his fingertips, a cellophane-wrapped chocolate ball. However, its center is not filled with chocolate truffle, as it happens... ]
A holiday based on candy, isn't that something?
no subject
Candy and dead people. I would imagine this is your favourite holiday?
1/2
Any microscopic mote of regret Break might have had for passing Jack a spider-filled candy is now officially blasted out of existence. ]
I--
[ Did someone reveal his secret? Surely not Reim. Gilbert, possibly, by accident. Or perhaps...
Barma. ]
2/2
Ha! Ha! Ha!
Why, I wouldn't have taken you for being a morbid person~!
no subject
[he smiles pleasantly, not knowing what...set Break off...they were meant to be separate statements...! But he'd struck a nerve, hadn't he. jack unwraps the candy.]
And I suppose, you being part of Pandora....
[he pops the ball into his mouth.]
no subject
Hmmm, Pandora? How do you know about it?
[ And just as Jack is biting down on the candy... ]
Oh! Be careful, that's special candy, made just for the holiday.
no subject
Please don't invite me to your chocolate factory.

[ He thinks she means Funtom. ]
You don't like chocolate? Or candy? No toys, no games, no puzzles?
[ He looks genuinely wistful for a moment, as he plucks a cellophane-wrapped hard candy from behind one of her ears. ]
Ah well--
[ Yes, yes - genuinely wistful, as if he's reflecting on how terribly, awfully sad it is when a person grows up for good, and puts off childish things... ]

Stein's not wearing a costume, since his normal clothes are apparently costume enough for most people. He is on a rolling chair, which he's clattering around the party while sitting backwards, and pretty much just assuming that everyone will get out of his way.
And there's Break, looking so fancy and frilly that Stein can't help but interact with him.]
Well hello. Fancy meeting you here.
<3
Break's shoulders tense; his smile tightens. On the one hand, Stein, you're a bizarre fellow of questionable sanity (with the SCREW in your HEAD, yes he's finally been clued into that one) who knows his secrets...
On the other, well. Stein knows his secrets. Which means he doesn't have to pretend. It gets fatiguing, after a while, particularly now that his vision has deteriorated from blurred shadows to complete darkness.
As for Stein's questionable sanity - it's been ten days since the seal on Mad Hatter came undone. Break's chain is annoyed and exerting more of an influence than it would ordinarily. His own thought processes are even more unhinged than normal, and that's saying something!
Break's shoulder's drop. He relaxes, visibly. And giggles. ]
Hahahahaha, Doctor Stein. Having a good time?
[ He opens his palm. He'd considered slipping Stein a spider-filled chocolate ball; but instead, he's got a handful of caramel worms. Maybe Stein is sufficiently mad enough to enjoy them. ]
no subject
That said, he will take those worms.]
Have you tried the chocolates yet?
[Stein has. Curiosity will be his downfall, one of these days.
Break (and the Hatter) might feel again that sense of being looked at, examined. It's just a glance, there and gone again.
It is enough for Stein to recognize madness seeping from Chain to chained, though he makes no comment on what he sees.]
no subject
[ He can feel Stein's penetrating, invasive perception. Before, he'd been affronted. Now he just laughs. Emily chimes in: ]
IT'S A PEEPING TOM!
Naughty, naughty, Doctor Stein.
[ He bends over, to drape his arm about Stein's shoulders. He's curious about that screw, and so his fingers walky-walk up into Stein's hair, on purpose to touch it. ]
no subject
As Break's hand goes up into his hair, searching for metal, Stein's hand goes around Break's wrist to stop that search.]
Touching people without permission?
Naughty, naughty, Break.
no subject
Break doesn't try to pull from Stein's grip; he just - wiggles his fingers. ]
I'm having a look, just like you were. Or is there something you don't want me to see?
no subject
I'm not hiding any candy in my hair, Break.
