It's Block Party time! June 7th to June 10th!

Summary: It's a Block Party!

The block outside the Newcomer Community Center had been bustling ever since the block party had been announced little less then a week ago. There had been much to get done, and there was little time to waste. With the cure being distributed, the NPP's stance on everything was very clear: they would find some way to put a smile back on the peoples faces. There were stalls set up next to each other, one or two each for a different company, business, or an individual who set out to be enterprising and had wares to show. Many booths were selling different foods or drinks, while others had games for people to play. Some stalls were handing out fliers, trying to promote their business. Each stall had a sign hanging from if that proclaimed what they were, and what they were selling. There was a large stage in front of the center that was for entertainment; they had all kinds of shows for the people to watch and listen to as they milled about.

Most games didn't cost much, or they were free, as long as the person understood that a small donation would be appreciated. All proceeds from the block party were going to help those who had been affected the worst by this plague; some were still in the hospital with crippling medical bills, and the NPP was determined to help those less fortunate. Security was milling about, just as a standard precaution against stealing, or some kind of protest, and each protester was given something to eat, drink, and an invitation to join in the festivities.

The block party would be happening from Thursday, June 7th, to Sunday, June 10th. It would open at 11:00 am, and close around 5:00 pm. This was to ensure that everyone has plenty of time to get their stall up and more then enough time to take the stall down before sirens. Nothing would be left outside in the darkness, but also give enough time to let people have fun. Especially those who wanted to dunk the NPP members in a big tub of water.



OOC: Everyone can make their own thread! If you are a company or a person who has rented a stall, you can make your own thread, and it will be linked on the main post. Entertainment will be taking place throughout the day, and anyone who signed up can make their own thread or comment around. All games can make their own thread as well. Alcohol is allowed for anyone of the legal drinking age (which is 17, for those unaware!), and security will make sure nothing gets out of hand. There will be protesters on the edge of the block on Friday, but there will be no violence tolerated.

All threads will be linked on the main post for easier navigation. This post will serve for the entirety of the block party, which is from Thursday to Sunday. If you want, you can put the date in the subject line, otherwise it is up to you and your threadmates to decide when things take place. All stalls are set up for everyday of the block party. Don't forget to tag yourself in.

Newcomer Clinic Quiz Game

[He wasn't sure how he got stuck managing this booth. Not that it wasn't a fun gig, to be sure; outside in the sun, with everyone having fun, and being able to get food that you wouldn't get anywhere else? That did sound like a lot of fun.

Plus, he needed a break from the hospital. First dealing with most of his patients dying, then discovering that nano bug in someone's head, and then the utter bull shit with the cure being distributed... Tenma wasn't going to be at the stall every day, but he would be there for most of the days. Until another clinic member could take over.

And everyone could play a quick game and win prizes for the right answers. That was fun, right?]

[Anders drops by when he spots the familiar face, an easy smile curving his lips as he waves a greeting.]

That doesn't seem like a lot of fun, being stuck back there. Wouldn't you rather be out taking a look around at everything?

[Tenma lifted a hand, waving back with a wide grin.]

There are three other days that I get to see everything, with. I figured I'd get my civic duty out of the way early. [He laughs.] are you having fun?

[The way Anders' smile widens into a grin probably answers that question.]

There's a place over there where it looks like they paint people's faces for them! I saw a picture of one that looked like a cat, so I'm going over there next.

What about you? Anything you're going to go and do when you can?

The Community Center doing the face painting, right? It looks like a lot of fun, everyone seems so happy! [Beams.] I wanted to go to the t-shirt painting place? Oh, and the... struggle tournament, that seems like a lot of fun!

[electricitytrick]

I had a look at that struggle thing, but I'm not really much of one for hitting things with sticks or other weapons, really. Give me a good fireball any day! More effective and a lot more fun.

[Czeslaw appears around supper time, making rather a rather mess of himself with some cotton candy. His mouth is spotted with blue.]

Hey, Kenzo. Are you stuck here all night? I'll get you something to eat...

All for today, but you don't have to do that, really! [laughs sheepishly.] What'd you eat that made your mouth so blue?

Cotton candy. It tastes pretty much how it looks. [A toothy grin.] Sure you don't want some? Or barring that, actual food?

Um... well, maybe something? [Sheepish.] Do they have those... they're like, fried dough with the powdered sugar...

[It's during the first couple days of the fair that Rachel sees him. It's not often she runs across a familiar face, but she hesitated to say hello at first. Why that was, she couldn't really say. Perhaps because she'd made it so very clear that she knew next to nothing about illness.

She comes to the booth, mildly curious about the game, but moreso to say hello -- and to thank him for his concern.]

[Tenma gave her a wide smile.] Hello! Would you like to play a quiz game? It might not be as interesting as the other games, here, but it's kind of fun!

I'm not sure I'd like to be quizzed. [Arms crossed, she gives him an expression that could be a half-smile.] I did want to thank you personally, though, for the concern when I was sick.

It's just for fun! But you don't have to if you don't want to. I don't like quizzes, either. [His expression softens from something joking, to something more...sad.]

You didn't have to thank me for that. But you're welcome. I'm just glad you're safe and feeling better. As a doctor, knowing any patients are doing well... that's good enough for me!

[Finally, Dr. Yumeno drops by the stall in the later afternoon to relieve Tenma, bearing two large slices of cooler-chilled watermelon and new stacks of informational pamphlets to pass out regarding clinical services.]

Not quite so busy over here, are we?

[He eyes the painted sign with a drowsy sigh, mopping at his brow as he holds out one slice to Tenma in offering- it's notably quieter at this booth than with some of the more popular games.]

Guess everyone's a little tired of having anything to do with medicine.

I think so. [Tenma chuckles, taking the offered slice.] Thank you. I think I've had two people come over in the past hour, and they both left after two questions. Crazy, right? And here we are with stuffed animals trying to get them excited.

[Yumeno suggests dryly, smirking. Thankfully, the rest of the block looks moderately busy. The House's food stall has been crowded since opening, the dunk tank certainly popular...

"Fun Health Facts" and educational materials were probably the last things on anyone's mind for summer. He fans his stack of pamphlets on the importance of UV protection and proper outdoor hydration and sets them on the table anyway, shaking his head as he pulls up a folding chair.]

...Those poor fish.

[The doctor remarks, watching the carnival booth across the way as he settles in.]

Stickers and lollipops might go over pretty well. [He chuckles, looking at the pamphlets, and picking one up to browse through it. He might already know all of the information in them, but he had to do something to keep from yawning.]

Hm? [He looks up, putting the pamphlet in his lap.] The fish at that fish stand? They're going to good homes, right?

I hope this is okay (if horribly late)?

[Anders drops by the booth again at a later time, looking around a little uncertainly as he realises that he has no idea who it is he's looking for.]

Hello there! I don't suppose a handsome gentleman like yourself knows where a Dr. Daedalus Yumeno is, do you?

[gaveherwings]

Ah, a charmer.

[The younger of the two smirks with a mild-mannered roll of his eyes, climbing to his feet to extend a hand across the table.]

Dr. Yumeno, at your service. You-

[The voice is only vaguely familiar, but there are many people he speaks to daily. Still, he can place this one-]

We spoke over the NV, correct?

[electricitytrick]

[Anders grins, not bothered in the slightest at being called a charmer. It was true, after all.]

Anders, at your service. You asked me to fill out one of those job form things, yes? I have it here with me, if you'd like to take a look.
