It's Block Party time! June 7th to June 10th!

Summary: It's a Block Party!

The block outside the Newcomer Community Center had been bustling ever since the block party had been announced little less then a week ago. There had been much to get done, and there was little time to waste. With the cure being distributed, the NPP's stance on everything was very clear: they would find some way to put a smile back on the peoples faces. There were stalls set up next to each other, one or two each for a different company, business, or an individual who set out to be enterprising and had wares to show. Many booths were selling different foods or drinks, while others had games for people to play. Some stalls were handing out fliers, trying to promote their business. Each stall had a sign hanging from if that proclaimed what they were, and what they were selling. There was a large stage in front of the center that was for entertainment; they had all kinds of shows for the people to watch and listen to as they milled about.

Most games didn't cost much, or they were free, as long as the person understood that a small donation would be appreciated. All proceeds from the block party were going to help those who had been affected the worst by this plague; some were still in the hospital with crippling medical bills, and the NPP was determined to help those less fortunate. Security was milling about, just as a standard precaution against stealing, or some kind of protest, and each protester was given something to eat, drink, and an invitation to join in the festivities.

The block party would be happening from Thursday, June 7th, to Sunday, June 10th. It would open at 11:00 am, and close around 5:00 pm. This was to ensure that everyone has plenty of time to get their stall up and more then enough time to take the stall down before sirens. Nothing would be left outside in the darkness, but also give enough time to let people have fun. Especially those who wanted to dunk the NPP members in a big tub of water.



OOC: Everyone can make their own thread! If you are a company or a person who has rented a stall, you can make your own thread, and it will be linked on the main post. Entertainment will be taking place throughout the day, and anyone who signed up can make their own thread or comment around. All games can make their own thread as well. Alcohol is allowed for anyone of the legal drinking age (which is 17, for those unaware!), and security will make sure nothing gets out of hand. There will be protesters on the edge of the block on Friday, but there will be no violence tolerated.

All threads will be linked on the main post for easier navigation. This post will serve for the entirety of the block party, which is from Thursday to Sunday. If you want, you can put the date in the subject line, otherwise it is up to you and your threadmates to decide when things take place. All stalls are set up for everyday of the block party. Don't forget to tag yourself in.

Xino E. Mao (AGI)

[ The tablecloth stamped with the Organization's insignia, there's neatly organized stacks of pamphlets and papers for anyone to peruse. Information on the Xino E. Mao Corporation can be found within, as well as listings of jobs open in Siren's Port (all AGI-related).

Whether it's Xigbar or some other representative, any questions or insults will be fielded with expertise.

Also, just to make things a little more interesting, the corporation will be introducing a new game. It's called "Whack-A-Dusk", and it works very much like "Whack-A-Mole". Anyone who does particularly well will get gift certificates to different AGI establishments, child-friendly and not.

Whenever he is at the booth, though, he'll be there. On the side. Eating cookies. Sunglasses and all.]

[ And in his spare time, when he isn't fielding questions and the like, the Second will be sitting right next to him. Sunglasses, naturally, are a must. ]

[Well, he should at least make a quick stop at the booth. Try and keep up appearances and wot. Nibbling at an ice cream bar, Axel sidles up to the table and leans one hip on it, giving Xigbar a sidelong look.]

Xigbar just shrugs. ]

As hard as one might expect, Flamesilocks.

[Grin~] Oh, I endeavor to keep my expectations as low as possible. Less disappointment that way.

Ah you know me: can't resist a good party. Thought I'd spice things up a bit with some fireworks, but the guys running it said nothing more dangerous than sparklers. [Sigh~~~~ He folds his arms.] Some people really need to loosen up, right?

[She does need a job... and she's not sure if that lady on the NV would actually hire her. She had seemed rather doubtful of Eponine's... well, everything.

Eponine will be slowly reading the job list, sounding words out below her breath and using her finger as a guide under the words as she tried to read them]

[ Attentive salesman representative that he is, Xigbar watches for a time, allowing her some space before he mosies over. ]

[ Well, hello.

He grins and waves the other over. ]

It's all very simple, Mr. Pegsy. These [ he holds up some pamphlets ] are job listings. All connected to the Xino E. Mao Corporation via our parent company, Afterglow, Incorporated. [ He offers Pegasus one. ] See something you like? It's likely I can get it for you.

As for this [ he walks over to the game he's set up ], I've fondly dubbed it "Whack-A-Dusk".

[ Flicking a finger at one of the creatures, it wriggles a little in response. Smiling, he holds up a mallet. ]

I've heard quite a bit about them. Seems they're all about fun and games, hmm?

[ Why so surprised, Sam? He's a very upstanding citizen. ]

[ Perfectly innocent. How dare you suggest it's something naughty, Sam. He's Disney.

Xigbar smiles. ]

How's it hanging, Mr. Barkeep?

Sure it is. And your booth's promotin' family togetherness, right? [trying to figure it out, honestly. But not coming any closer to do it. You still skeev him out, dude. Something smells off.]

It's... goin' fine. I've got some people handin' out fliers for the bar. Makin' my rounds. ...Part of the NPP again, so I'll be goin' and meetin' up with them. How 'bout you?

[Luxord's not terribly interested in the Whack-A-Dusk (he'll leave that for other people) but that doesn't stop him from making his presence known now and then. It costs him nothing but time, and so he figures he can at least check in from time to time.]

Either way, he'll be saying hello to one of his less problematic employees. ]

Sunday morning

[ If there's reading material to peruse... Chane's absorbed in it. For maybe a full ten minutes now she has been standing neatly at the border of the bustle of Whack-A-Dusk players, gloved fingers and intense eyes inspecting every word and detail of the corporation's job listings and mission statements. In her usual black dress, she certainly does not seem to be here for party games. She isn't looking to catch anyone's eye, however, as though the leaflets would be all the help she will never need. ]

[ Occupied as he is with keeping the Dusks in line, it'll be a few minutes before he eyes Chane. He'll give her some time, too, before wandering over to address her.

He smiles. ]

Can I help you?

[The next booth over had gotten less interesting for the fact that they didn't allow him any fish-snacking. Short work had been made of the cookies that he'd been offered, so obviously it was time to move on!

A black snout pokes around the back of the booth, followed by a pair of large, curious green eyes.]

[ Well, well, well.

Though the appearance of a dragon makes a few passersby scatter, Xigbar just smiles. It's a small thing, as far the species goes, but a dragon is a dragon. They're interesting, if nothing else.

Leaning over the booth, he offers the creature a cookie. ]

Looking for some treats, are we?

[This particular arrival shows up out of curl of smoke. He's not interested in either of the two factions, much less a job, but the Dusks are just interesting enough to warrant a second look.]

[ Why hello there, strange and unusual-looking cat.

Xigbar doesn't visibly react beyond quirking a brow, and the Dusks just wriggle and undulate as they do. If Chessur gets close enough, they might react a little differently. ]
