It's Block Party time! June 7th to June 10th!

Summary: It's a Block Party!

The block outside the Newcomer Community Center had been bustling ever since the block party had been announced little less then a week ago. There had been much to get done, and there was little time to waste. With the cure being distributed, the NPP's stance on everything was very clear: they would find some way to put a smile back on the peoples faces. There were stalls set up next to each other, one or two each for a different company, business, or an individual who set out to be enterprising and had wares to show. Many booths were selling different foods or drinks, while others had games for people to play. Some stalls were handing out fliers, trying to promote their business. Each stall had a sign hanging from if that proclaimed what they were, and what they were selling. There was a large stage in front of the center that was for entertainment; they had all kinds of shows for the people to watch and listen to as they milled about.

Most games didn't cost much, or they were free, as long as the person understood that a small donation would be appreciated. All proceeds from the block party were going to help those who had been affected the worst by this plague; some were still in the hospital with crippling medical bills, and the NPP was determined to help those less fortunate. Security was milling about, just as a standard precaution against stealing, or some kind of protest, and each protester was given something to eat, drink, and an invitation to join in the festivities.

The block party would be happening from Thursday, June 7th, to Sunday, June 10th. It would open at 11:00 am, and close around 5:00 pm. This was to ensure that everyone has plenty of time to get their stall up and more then enough time to take the stall down before sirens. Nothing would be left outside in the darkness, but also give enough time to let people have fun. Especially those who wanted to dunk the NPP members in a big tub of water.



OOC: Everyone can make their own thread! If you are a company or a person who has rented a stall, you can make your own thread, and it will be linked on the main post. Entertainment will be taking place throughout the day, and anyone who signed up can make their own thread or comment around. All games can make their own thread as well. Alcohol is allowed for anyone of the legal drinking age (which is 17, for those unaware!), and security will make sure nothing gets out of hand. There will be protesters on the edge of the block on Friday, but there will be no violence tolerated.

All threads will be linked on the main post for easier navigation. This post will serve for the entirety of the block party, which is from Thursday to Sunday. If you want, you can put the date in the subject line, otherwise it is up to you and your threadmates to decide when things take place. All stalls are set up for everyday of the block party. Don't forget to tag yourself in.

NCCC Face Painting

[Yosuke is experimenting with how far he can tip his chair back without falling over. Of course, there are far more qualified people who could paint your face at the booth, which is why he's sitting in front of the cashbox, trying to sneak a peek at the food next door to figure out what that mouthwatering smell is. But if he gets bored enough, he might reach for a paintbrush, so watch out.]

C'mon, someone must want to look festive around here...

Eponine wanders over, attracted by the smell of the food, but she smiles when she sees her friend.

"What are you doing? Painting pictures?"

If Eponine is abashed, there is nothing in her face or her demeanour to show it.

"Could you? What else are you to do with a brush and paint?"

She's never seen so much paint. Even the students didn't have as much. Paint was expensive.

[He shrugs. He's aware how silly that probably sounds to someone who isn't familiar with the practice, but what can you do?]

I guess it makes the atmosphere more festive.

[She never imagined make up to look like that. She pokes it experimentally]

[A tiny girl in overalls suddenly appears in front of him with a wide smile and a stuffed bunny in hand.]

Oh, hey. It's...Pino-chan, right?

[He grins, when he sees the rabbit.]

I bet I know what you'd like.

Uh huh! I'm happy you remembered, Yosuke!

[She tilts her head curiously.]

You do?

Since it's only two sounds, it was pretty easy. And you remembered mine too, even though the silent sound makes it longer.

[He starts arranging some brushes and paints, and nods, apparently practicing for when he takes a bar tending job one day. Yep, one rabbit. Coming right up. He reaches over the booth and pokes the one in Pino's arms.]

One of these, right?

[Anders is wandering around, curious about everything, and the brightly painted faces in the pictures around the booth catch his attention. It looks fun and he thinks he might recognise the face behind the cashbox as well.]

Hey, is that a cat? You can get your face painted up to look like a cat here?

Uh, sure. If you want.

[Doubtful look. See, he's supposed to be trying to sell this shit, but he can't imagine why a grown man would want whiskers and a cute pink nose.]

Why would anyone want a fake scar? I've gotten enough real ones already, thank you very much. No, I'd much rather look like a cute little kitty! Ohh, do you think someone could paint it like a tabby?

[He holds out a wrist instead. It's a little on the slender side, but not as tiny as Nana's, so he figures it shouldn't be too hard for her to paint. And easier to 'accidentally' spill something on and wash away if someone he needs to impress walks past.]

[It's Rue again, that little girl you met doing your community service last month in the park. She's looking over the stall with a stick of candyfloss in hand.]

[He remembers her. He even wheels his arms to catch his balance and tips the chair back down onto all four legs, grinning a bit sheepishly at her.]

[He's practically dragging Edriss along at this point, no doubt. Just bouncing about the fair like a hyperactive five-year-old, moving from booth to booth, attraction to attraction, forcing her to at least try hot dogs and churros and cotton candy and-]

[So this is one skinny British alien practically shoving another alien (although both look decidedly human) towards the face painting booth.]
