It's Block Party time! June 7th to June 10th!

Summary: It's a Block Party!

The block outside the Newcomer Community Center had been bustling ever since the block party had been announced little less then a week ago. There had been much to get done, and there was little time to waste. With the cure being distributed, the NPP's stance on everything was very clear: they would find some way to put a smile back on the peoples faces. There were stalls set up next to each other, one or two each for a different company, business, or an individual who set out to be enterprising and had wares to show. Many booths were selling different foods or drinks, while others had games for people to play. Some stalls were handing out fliers, trying to promote their business. Each stall had a sign hanging from if that proclaimed what they were, and what they were selling. There was a large stage in front of the center that was for entertainment; they had all kinds of shows for the people to watch and listen to as they milled about.

Most games didn't cost much, or they were free, as long as the person understood that a small donation would be appreciated. All proceeds from the block party were going to help those who had been affected the worst by this plague; some were still in the hospital with crippling medical bills, and the NPP was determined to help those less fortunate. Security was milling about, just as a standard precaution against stealing, or some kind of protest, and each protester was given something to eat, drink, and an invitation to join in the festivities.

The block party would be happening from Thursday, June 7th, to Sunday, June 10th. It would open at 11:00 am, and close around 5:00 pm. This was to ensure that everyone has plenty of time to get their stall up and more then enough time to take the stall down before sirens. Nothing would be left outside in the darkness, but also give enough time to let people have fun. Especially those who wanted to dunk the NPP members in a big tub of water.



OOC: Everyone can make their own thread! If you are a company or a person who has rented a stall, you can make your own thread, and it will be linked on the main post. Entertainment will be taking place throughout the day, and anyone who signed up can make their own thread or comment around. All games can make their own thread as well. Alcohol is allowed for anyone of the legal drinking age (which is 17, for those unaware!), and security will make sure nothing gets out of hand. There will be protesters on the edge of the block on Friday, but there will be no violence tolerated.

All threads will be linked on the main post for easier navigation. This post will serve for the entirety of the block party, which is from Thursday to Sunday. If you want, you can put the date in the subject line, otherwise it is up to you and your threadmates to decide when things take place. All stalls are set up for everyday of the block party. Don't forget to tag yourself in.

Why would anyone want a fake scar? I've gotten enough real ones already, thank you very much. No, I'd much rather look like a cute little kitty! Ohh, do you think someone could paint it like a tabby?

I have no idea what that is! [Laughing a little, Anders reaches into his robes oh my and carefully produces a ginger kitten that yawns sleepily at being disturbed.]

Something like Ser Pounce-a-lot?

[Stare.]

There was a cat in your clothes!

[Does no one else see this shit?]

[Anders stares for a moment before rolling his eyes.] Oh, is this a cat? And here I thought that it was a handkerchief to wipe my nose on. Lucky you were around to clear that one up for me!

[Yosuke ignores the sarcasm, though. He's too intrigued by this unusual development, and he reaches a hand out for the kitty to sniff.]

You'd better poke some air holes in that outfit. He looks sleepy.

[Anders grins at that. Really, the boy shouldn't open himself up to teasing so easily.]

Are you saying you'd like to see me with more holes in my clothing, hmmm? And people say I have quite the dirty mind.

[He could point out that Ser Pounce-a-lot was used to climbing in and out of Anders' robes, belt pouch, or pack, but this is a lot more fun.]

[Yosuke doesn't take a step back so much as a leap, wide-eyed.]

Woah, I never said anything like that!

[electricitytrick]

[Anders cracks up laughing.]

Hah! You should see the look on your face! Oh that's priceless!

Yeah, hilarious.

[Huff.]

Oh come on, it was just a little harmless fun! You can take a joke, can't you?

[Sigh. He's clearly a bit uncomfortable with that type of joke, coming from a different sort of society, and being young to boot. But he's still not going to be rude to a customer over it, or at least, he doesn't think that he's rude.]

Sit down over there, if you still want to be a cat.

[electricitytrick]

[The reaction doesn't really surprise him that much - plenty of his friends in the Wardens would have been equally frustrated with him over it - so Anders happily takes the indicated seat, more curious now about this face painting.]

I do! A cute cat like my little Ser Pounce-a-lot, if you don't mind.

It'll cost extra to do your whole face, but I don't mind. It's my job, right?

[Yosuke begins to open paints and stir them around.]

Then why's it called 'face painting' if you charge people extra to do their whole face? Shouldn't it be called 'only about half of your face painting', then? 'A bit of cheek and over the eye painting'?

...you're not just charging me extra because of that joke, are you?

Maybe it was that. [Yosuke relents, still feigning extreme interest in the paints.] Anyway, I don't get to keep the money. It's for charity, and this is community service. So let's just pretend it never happened.

All right, fine. I'll forget it happened. Though if I take a look afterwards and you've painted something obscene on my face instead, we're having words!

Like you need any help being obscene.

Andraste's flaming knickers, it was a joke, Void take you! And not even that bad a one. It wasn't as though I asked you to lift my robes and take me right here!

[Really, what is this kid's problem? He's not that young, near as Anders can tell. He must have at least thought about things like that.]

[And yet he's clearly totally taken aback by this mild hostility. The paint brush freezes where it is, and he gawks a bit. Jeez, what's this dude's problem?]

Try to hold still...

[Anders frowns, still not happy about called obscene for a harmless joke, but he does go quiet for the moment. Perhaps it really is as Mr. Gold said, and too much to ask that everyone here be more accepting than he was used to.]

[Yosuke shuts up for once, and simply focuses on the painting. There's no way this guy is going to leave as a happy customer if the paint doesn't come out perfect. It's not a real job, but it matters to Creed-San and other newcomers, so there's pressure not to screw up. He has to stop and shake his wrist out a bit to keep his hand from trembling.]
