It's Block Party time! June 7th to June 10th!

Summary: It's a Block Party!

The block outside the Newcomer Community Center had been bustling ever since the block party had been announced little less then a week ago. There had been much to get done, and there was little time to waste. With the cure being distributed, the NPP's stance on everything was very clear: they would find some way to put a smile back on the peoples faces. There were stalls set up next to each other, one or two each for a different company, business, or an individual who set out to be enterprising and had wares to show. Many booths were selling different foods or drinks, while others had games for people to play. Some stalls were handing out fliers, trying to promote their business. Each stall had a sign hanging from if that proclaimed what they were, and what they were selling. There was a large stage in front of the center that was for entertainment; they had all kinds of shows for the people to watch and listen to as they milled about.

Most games didn't cost much, or they were free, as long as the person understood that a small donation would be appreciated. All proceeds from the block party were going to help those who had been affected the worst by this plague; some were still in the hospital with crippling medical bills, and the NPP was determined to help those less fortunate. Security was milling about, just as a standard precaution against stealing, or some kind of protest, and each protester was given something to eat, drink, and an invitation to join in the festivities.

The block party would be happening from Thursday, June 7th, to Sunday, June 10th. It would open at 11:00 am, and close around 5:00 pm. This was to ensure that everyone has plenty of time to get their stall up and more then enough time to take the stall down before sirens. Nothing would be left outside in the darkness, but also give enough time to let people have fun. Especially those who wanted to dunk the NPP members in a big tub of water.



OOC: Everyone can make their own thread! If you are a company or a person who has rented a stall, you can make your own thread, and it will be linked on the main post. Entertainment will be taking place throughout the day, and anyone who signed up can make their own thread or comment around. All games can make their own thread as well. Alcohol is allowed for anyone of the legal drinking age (which is 17, for those unaware!), and security will make sure nothing gets out of hand. There will be protesters on the edge of the block on Friday, but there will be no violence tolerated.

All threads will be linked on the main post for easier navigation. This post will serve for the entirety of the block party, which is from Thursday to Sunday. If you want, you can put the date in the subject line, otherwise it is up to you and your threadmates to decide when things take place. All stalls are set up for everyday of the block party. Don't forget to tag yourself in.

[At some point it's just mean to mess with a little girl when she doesn't get the joke, so he laughs and shakes his head.]

It means...uh. It's hard to explain. Something like 'young miss' I guess, but not all stiff and formal. It's what your friends call each other when everyone's small, and what your grandmother calls you no matter how old you get.

[He shrugs, and starts popping the tops off the paints and stirring them.]

Maybe some stars, then. Or a bird? Rainbow colored freckles? Since this is a party, you can have anything you want...as long as it isn't more than twenty brush strokes.

I like it. What would I call you where you come from?

[Rue peers down at the paint and oh Yosuke, her face lights up as soon as you say the word 'bird'.]

A bird! I'd love to be a bird.

Hmm. Probably senpai or Yosuke-kun, if you wanted to. But I don't mind if you drop the honorific, it's not disrespectful since you're foreign. Uh, though I guess around here we both are. And I don't mind onii-San either, as long as it's from a cute kid like you.

[He'd been stirring the paints contently, but sighed a little at that. Be a bird? Why couldn't they ever just want a bird and make his life easy? Still, he doesn't want to disappoint her, so he co siders how to go about this.]

Alright, a bird. I'll do my best!

What do they all mean? What country are you from?

[Welp you should have specified Yosuke, you're dealing with kids here. She sits down, grinning.]

Would you like a piece of my cotton-candy?

[So many questions, Rue. Too bad Yosuke's in a playful mood, so the answer will only be half serious.]

I'm from somewhere called Japan. Its where the sun came from. And they mean that I'm older than you. Except Yosuke-kun, that's just my name.

[He glances at the candy, but only for a second. Then he dips the paint brush and decides to get to work.]

Maybe after. You wouldn't want me to get paint in it, right? Try to hold still, even though it's going to tickle.

That's weird. Um... no offence. I thought the sun was in space.

[She nods, then oop! Must keep still!]

Okay.

[Yosuke laughs at that, but he doesn't bother to correct her for it, just waits until she holds still to start applying the paint.]

Well, sure. Space is the heavens, and that's where the sun goddess lives.

[Ooh Gods she's becoming familiar with, after meeting Loki and his brother Thor.]

What's her name?

Amaterasu.

[It rolls off his tongue easily and warmly, almost as if Rue is asking about an old friend instead of a legend. Yosuke leans in a bit closer, trying to get a few details right. Hopefully his breath doesn't still smell like the onigiri and tea he had for lunch, because he keeps talking.]

Even the Emperor is her child, from back in the ancestral days. She gives everything light and warmth and light.

[He wipes away a little smudge with a cloth, squints to make sure it's gone, and continues.]

It's just a story, but it's a nice one, right? It's better I tell you about her than some of the others!

[She repeats, liking the sounds of it.]

She sounds wonderful, really nice. Are the others not so nice?

Well...they're the gods, is all. What else did they have to do besides cause trouble?

Is that what God's do? [She remembers Astrid said similar about Loki but those were just pranks.]

No one really believes in God's back home.

Mostly. Sometimes they invent things, too. Or start wars, or stop wars. Create things, break things. They spend a lot of time having children too.
