It's Block Party time! June 7th to June 10th!

Summary: It's a Block Party!

The block outside the Newcomer Community Center had been bustling ever since the block party had been announced little less then a week ago. There had been much to get done, and there was little time to waste. With the cure being distributed, the NPP's stance on everything was very clear: they would find some way to put a smile back on the peoples faces. There were stalls set up next to each other, one or two each for a different company, business, or an individual who set out to be enterprising and had wares to show. Many booths were selling different foods or drinks, while others had games for people to play. Some stalls were handing out fliers, trying to promote their business. Each stall had a sign hanging from if that proclaimed what they were, and what they were selling. There was a large stage in front of the center that was for entertainment; they had all kinds of shows for the people to watch and listen to as they milled about.

Most games didn't cost much, or they were free, as long as the person understood that a small donation would be appreciated. All proceeds from the block party were going to help those who had been affected the worst by this plague; some were still in the hospital with crippling medical bills, and the NPP was determined to help those less fortunate. Security was milling about, just as a standard precaution against stealing, or some kind of protest, and each protester was given something to eat, drink, and an invitation to join in the festivities.

The block party would be happening from Thursday, June 7th, to Sunday, June 10th. It would open at 11:00 am, and close around 5:00 pm. This was to ensure that everyone has plenty of time to get their stall up and more then enough time to take the stall down before sirens. Nothing would be left outside in the darkness, but also give enough time to let people have fun. Especially those who wanted to dunk the NPP members in a big tub of water.



OOC: Everyone can make their own thread! If you are a company or a person who has rented a stall, you can make your own thread, and it will be linked on the main post. Entertainment will be taking place throughout the day, and anyone who signed up can make their own thread or comment around. All games can make their own thread as well. Alcohol is allowed for anyone of the legal drinking age (which is 17, for those unaware!), and security will make sure nothing gets out of hand. There will be protesters on the edge of the block on Friday, but there will be no violence tolerated.

All threads will be linked on the main post for easier navigation. This post will serve for the entirety of the block party, which is from Thursday to Sunday. If you want, you can put the date in the subject line, otherwise it is up to you and your threadmates to decide when things take place. All stalls are set up for everyday of the block party. Don't forget to tag yourself in.

[Tiny shock and awe! You've always been able to impress her, Yosuke. She sits down, happily.]

Woohoo! Hey, can you paint my whole face so I look like a rabbit?

[DAMN IT. That's so much harder. And he's been telling people all morning that he won't do more than 20 brush strokes, either. But she seems so excited, it's hard to say no. Though he's not sure how exactly to go about it, anyway. A pink nose, maybe. What else? Whiskers? No, then she'll look like a cat. He frowns a little, thoughtfully.]

Uh...

[She smiles wide and gives an excited, happy giggle, as though trying to inspire him to do a good job.]

[SIGH.]

Have a seat, I guess I can figure it out.

[She sets the rabbit down on the ground and plops down in the seat.]

Can I help? I know how to draw a rabbit really, really well!

Maybe. How would you start?

[He finishes stirring the paints and takes the seat across from her, tapping a paintbrush against his chin thoughtfully.]

With the whiskers!

[It's just a couple of lines!]

Mm, no good on a face. It'll have to be the nose, I think. Otherwise the whiskers would be painted over.

[He dips the brush, and bites his lip in mock concentration, as if it's a very delicate procedure he's about to perform.]

Try to hold still, okay? And if you're going to sneeze let me know so we don't both end up pink-flecked all over.

[countsrabbits]

[She sits completely still, except for her legs that swing back and forth under the chair. Still, her face is still enough that he shouldn't have any problems painting her nose.]

Nope, I won't have to sneeze. I don't do it ever.

[inthejunk]

What, ever?

[He stops painting, for a moment, equal parts creeped out and intrigued. Then he shakes his head, and goes back to painting.]

Trippy.

[countsrabbits]

Mm-mm.

[She refrains from shaking her head.]

I don't think AutoReivs are programmed to do it at all.

That's what you're called? Auto...what was it?

[countsrabbits]

Mmhmm! I'm a companion type AutoReiv! But I'm the only one here so far, which is kinda weird because there were a lot of us, but I guess I'm also the only one who was infected who survived for so long, too.

[Rambling, rambling.]

You got sick, too?

[Yosuke frowns a little, and feels her face where he hasn't painted it yet.]

[countsrabbits]

Mm soooort of. It's a virus that only AutoReivs get, so don't worry! I can't infect you!

[She swings her feet again. So excited to see her face when it's done!]

[inthejunk]

I wasn't worried about that.

[But he stops feeling her face, though he's still frowning a bit.]

What's the matter? I could get you some tea or something.

[Thoughtfully.]

But it's not like that, is it? It's something else.

[countsrabbits]

Nope, I don't need to eat or drink either, but I love watching other people do it!

[She smiles even wider.]

The Cogito Virus made us aware of ourselves. Some of the others were really angry about it, but I've been really happy ever since then. It's better to know yourself than to not know yourself, right?

[inthejunk]

[Something about that makes him jerk nervously, and the yellow paints gets elbowed right off the table. He stares after it mournfully for a second, then ducks to retrieve what's left of it and throws some towels down quickly.]

Aw, man...

[countsrabbits]

Hm?

[Sitting forward to look at him.]

Are you okay?

[inthejunk]

Um. Yeah, sorry. It was just a cramp in my...elbow. Please finish the story.

[He shakes his hand out a bit, more for effect TGAN anything else, and picks his brush back up.]

[She accepts it. People do tend to get hurt for no reason around here, she's noticed.]

Well, before I just did what I was programmed to do. But then I was infected, and I learned that I could smile and frown and laugh and scream. It's really great!

Then it's not really a sickness, right? It's just...um. Growing.

[Not taller, anyways. The expression goes way over her head.]

[He's not as interested in clearing up misunderstanding as he is in learning cool new shit.]

I guess so. There's no AutoReiv Control Division here, so I don't think anyone would be able to take me apart and make me taller.

[But she still makes a silent reminder to ask Papa about that later.]

Being taller would be a lot of fun!
