It's Block Party time! June 7th to June 10th!

Who: Siren's Port and You!
When: June 7th to June 10th
Where: The block outside the Newcomer Community Center
Summary: It's a Block Party!
Warnings: Possible language, nothing worse then that.

The block outside the Newcomer Community Center had been bustling ever since the block party had been announced little less then a week ago. There had been much to get done, and there was little time to waste. With the cure being distributed, the NPP's stance on everything was very clear: they would find some way to put a smile back on the peoples faces. There were stalls set up next to each other, one or two each for a different company, business, or an individual who set out to be enterprising and had wares to show. Many booths were selling different foods or drinks, while others had games for people to play. Some stalls were handing out fliers, trying to promote their business. Each stall had a sign hanging from if that proclaimed what they were, and what they were selling. There was a large stage in front of the center that was for entertainment; they had all kinds of shows for the people to watch and listen to as they milled about.

Most games didn't cost much, or they were free, as long as the person understood that a small donation would be appreciated. All proceeds from the block party were going to help those who had been affected the worst by this plague; some were still in the hospital with crippling medical bills, and the NPP was determined to help those less fortunate. Security was milling about, just as a standard precaution against stealing, or some kind of protest, and each protester was given something to eat, drink, and an invitation to join in the festivities.

The block party would be happening from Thursday, June 7th, to Sunday, June 10th. It would open at 11:00 am, and close around 5:00 pm. This was to ensure that everyone has plenty of time to get their stall up and more then enough time to take the stall down before sirens. Nothing would be left outside in the darkness, but also give enough time to let people have fun. Especially those who wanted to dunk the NPP members in a big tub of water.

OOC: Everyone can make their own thread! If you are a company or a person who has rented a stall, you can make your own thread, and it will be linked on the main post. Entertainment will be taking place throughout the day, and anyone who signed up can make their own thread or comment around. All games can make their own thread as well. Alcohol is allowed for anyone of the legal drinking age (which is 17, for those unaware!), and security will make sure nothing gets out of hand. There will be protesters on the edge of the block on Friday, but there will be no violence tolerated.

All threads will be linked on the main post for easier navigation. This post will serve for the entirety of the block party, which is from Thursday to Sunday. If you want, you can put the date in the subject line, otherwise it is up to you and your threadmates to decide when things take place. All stalls are set up for everyday of the block party. Don't forget to tag yourself in.

Have a good time!

[Oh sweet, there it is. Davesprite drifts over and then gives a slight nod, hands jammed in the pockets of his sleeveless hoodie.]

Sup.

[He looks around the arena, taking the game in differently in person. He's in a much better mood than his first visit to the block party, though it might not honestly be that easy to tell with those shades.]

There are prizes for the Grandstanding thing, too, right?
pullsheavendown: (※ you call my name)

[personal profile] pullsheavendown 2012-06-11 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Hey.

[He's never talked to Davesprite in person, but from the vague description he remembers, this has gotta be the guy.

A little more orange than he expected.]

Yep. We separated some out that you can win based on different times, and if you set a new record you get a big one. It'd be pretty hard to beat the record-holder, though.
crowsicle: me with a sword over my shoulder all chill (chill)

[He rolls one shoulder, chill as a fridge full of coolant at the South Pole.]

What's the record and who's got their paws on it?

[He's intrigued, but not particularly concerned. After all, he was trained by the best of the best ironic rapping Texan roof ninja masters, and it's in the blood.]
pullsheavendown: (※ no sleep until i'm done)

[personal profile] pullsheavendown 2012-06-11 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
It's [insert something suitably long and impressive, say at least two or three minutes.] No one's come close.

[He cocks his head and smirks.] And it's mine.
crowsicle: (sweet)

[personal profile] crowsicle 2012-06-12 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
[Davesprite's answering smirk is brief but unforced. He takes one hand out of his pocket and twitches his fingers.]

All right, toss me a bat. We're making this shit happen.
pullsheavendown: (※ what you already know)

[personal profile] pullsheavendown 2012-06-12 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
[He grabs one and tosses it over, holding one of the larger Grandstander balls in his other hand.]

You need a demonstration first?
crowsicle: me, patron god of totally awesome (boss)

[personal profile] crowsicle 2012-06-12 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah. It's just playing keep-it-up, right? I've been doing this with tennis balls since I graduated to Pull-Ups.

[He flips the bat in the air, catches it again by the handle, then holds it ready.]

Then we tried it with cherry bombs till the neighbors called for noise control. Can I see how much that thing weighs before we start?
pullsheavendown: (pic#1870889)

[personal profile] pullsheavendown 2012-06-12 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep. Can't let it drop.

[The ball comes at Davesprite in a wide overhead arc.]

Sure, test it out. That's only fair.
crowsicle: (sweet)

[personal profile] crowsicle 2012-06-13 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
[He bounces it a couple times off the bat, then tries to balance it until it comes to a perfect stand-still near the tip.

Grandstanding, indeed.

He flips it back to Roxas and puts his free hand back in his pocket.]

Ready when you are, dude.
pullsheavendown: (※ moments when i know)

I figure the ball they're using is a bit smaller than the one linked here

[personal profile] pullsheavendown 2012-06-13 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
[Show off. Admittedly, Roxas is impressed.]

Gotta keep it going, though. Anyone can let it balance forever. [No they can't. Still, he tosses it into the air and gives it a good few hits, bouncing it back into the sky every time gravity pulls it back down.]

crowsicle: ahahahahahaha (lol)

Hahaha, I watched that video before doing my last tag

[personal profile] crowsicle 2012-06-15 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[So it looks like Roxas can handle a--well, a foam bat anyway. But Davesprite doesn't doubt he can swing a sword. Key. Thing. Whatever Roxas told him earlier. Cool.]

Yeah, yeah, I got it. You ready to witness some unreal air?
pullsheavendown: (※ what you already know)

psychic!!!

[personal profile] pullsheavendown 2012-06-19 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[Keys are much more effective and far less likely to be the subject of sniggering jokes.]

I could stand to give it a look.
