It's Block Party time! June 7th to June 10th!

Who: Siren's Port and You!
When: June 7th to June 10th
Where: The block outside the Newcomer Community Center
Summary: It's a Block Party!
Warnings: Possible language, nothing worse then that.

The block outside the Newcomer Community Center had been bustling ever since the block party had been announced little less then a week ago. There had been much to get done, and there was little time to waste. With the cure being distributed, the NPP's stance on everything was very clear: they would find some way to put a smile back on the peoples faces. There were stalls set up next to each other, one or two each for a different company, business, or an individual who set out to be enterprising and had wares to show. Many booths were selling different foods or drinks, while others had games for people to play. Some stalls were handing out fliers, trying to promote their business. Each stall had a sign hanging from if that proclaimed what they were, and what they were selling. There was a large stage in front of the center that was for entertainment; they had all kinds of shows for the people to watch and listen to as they milled about.

Most games didn't cost much, or they were free, as long as the person understood that a small donation would be appreciated. All proceeds from the block party were going to help those who had been affected the worst by this plague; some were still in the hospital with crippling medical bills, and the NPP was determined to help those less fortunate. Security was milling about, just as a standard precaution against stealing, or some kind of protest, and each protester was given something to eat, drink, and an invitation to join in the festivities.

The block party would be happening from Thursday, June 7th, to Sunday, June 10th. It would open at 11:00 am, and close around 5:00 pm. This was to ensure that everyone has plenty of time to get their stall up and more then enough time to take the stall down before sirens. Nothing would be left outside in the darkness, but also give enough time to let people have fun. Especially those who wanted to dunk the NPP members in a big tub of water.

OOC: Everyone can make their own thread! If you are a company or a person who has rented a stall, you can make your own thread, and it will be linked on the main post. Entertainment will be taking place throughout the day, and anyone who signed up can make their own thread or comment around. All games can make their own thread as well. Alcohol is allowed for anyone of the legal drinking age (which is 17, for those unaware!), and security will make sure nothing gets out of hand. There will be protesters on the edge of the block on Friday, but there will be no violence tolerated.

All threads will be linked on the main post for easier navigation. This post will serve for the entirety of the block party, which is from Thursday to Sunday. If you want, you can put the date in the subject line, otherwise it is up to you and your threadmates to decide when things take place. All stalls are set up for everyday of the block party. Don't forget to tag yourself in.

Have a good time!

[She just happens to see the stall as she's walking through the party, and the books immediately catch her eye. So she approaches, leafing through a few idly before turning her attention to the cloaked figure.]

What are you reading?
olderthandirt: (Destiny has no path of his own.)

[His blind gaze remains on the pages though he still watches her. Her shadow moving through the narrative. He traces her path and remembers their previous conversation.]

I read from a book that has many names.

motioned: (ever a surprise)

[personal profile] motioned 2012-06-08 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
So it has a lot of characters?

[She tilts her head thoughtfully.]

What's it about?
olderthandirt: (He makes no decisions)

[personal profile] olderthandirt 2012-06-08 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
It does.

[He looks at her]

This book is about a plan and what that plan entails for the characters of its story. It...may be regarded as a philosophy, but it is what I live by. It is what many live by.
motioned: (what's a fire¸ and why does it)

[She frowns slightly.]

What if they don't like that plan?
olderthandirt: (his way is laid out.)

They work to circumvent it. At the conclusion of the characters' lives or at a point marked by a moment of revelation, they discover their efforts to evade the foretelling of their existence has led directly to the point they had wished to avoid.

[He lifts his hand and the breeze turns the pages. He watches what had once happened. A flow of events. The plan. He exercises care to keep the contents of his book from Ahiru's eyes. They were not for anyone else to read.]
motioned: (but who cares? no big deal!)

[She sighs, and the frown grows.]

It doesn't sound like a very good story.

[So, time for a subject change!]

Do you work at the library, mister?
olderthandirt: (Destiny holds his secrets.)

[personal profile] olderthandirt 2012-06-08 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[Subject changed indeeed. It mattered not to him.]

I do. It is familiar to me.
motioned: (how many wonders can one cavern hold?)

[personal profile] motioned 2012-06-08 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Familiar? So you've been here a while, huh?
olderthandirt: (Sometimes you dream)

[personal profile] olderthandirt 2012-06-08 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
For over a year. It has been an interesting experience.
motioned: (of distant drumming)

[personal profile] motioned 2012-06-09 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
Do you like it? I think there are some bad things about being here, but there are good things, too.
olderthandirt: (picks no branching ways;)

[personal profile] olderthandirt 2012-06-10 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
My opinion of my stay here is neither positive nor negative. I am here because I must be. My job is no different though now it encompasses a significantly smaller scale.

[He draws his hand across the page, preparing to turn to the next.]

The difference is staggering.

It must have been a pretty important job, then, huh?
