It's Block Party time! June 7th to June 10th!

Summary: It's a Block Party!

The block outside the Newcomer Community Center had been bustling ever since the block party had been announced little less then a week ago. There had been much to get done, and there was little time to waste. With the cure being distributed, the NPP's stance on everything was very clear: they would find some way to put a smile back on the peoples faces. There were stalls set up next to each other, one or two each for a different company, business, or an individual who set out to be enterprising and had wares to show. Many booths were selling different foods or drinks, while others had games for people to play. Some stalls were handing out fliers, trying to promote their business. Each stall had a sign hanging from if that proclaimed what they were, and what they were selling. There was a large stage in front of the center that was for entertainment; they had all kinds of shows for the people to watch and listen to as they milled about.

Most games didn't cost much, or they were free, as long as the person understood that a small donation would be appreciated. All proceeds from the block party were going to help those who had been affected the worst by this plague; some were still in the hospital with crippling medical bills, and the NPP was determined to help those less fortunate. Security was milling about, just as a standard precaution against stealing, or some kind of protest, and each protester was given something to eat, drink, and an invitation to join in the festivities.

The block party would be happening from Thursday, June 7th, to Sunday, June 10th. It would open at 11:00 am, and close around 5:00 pm. This was to ensure that everyone has plenty of time to get their stall up and more then enough time to take the stall down before sirens. Nothing would be left outside in the darkness, but also give enough time to let people have fun. Especially those who wanted to dunk the NPP members in a big tub of water.



OOC: Everyone can make their own thread! If you are a company or a person who has rented a stall, you can make your own thread, and it will be linked on the main post. Entertainment will be taking place throughout the day, and anyone who signed up can make their own thread or comment around. All games can make their own thread as well. Alcohol is allowed for anyone of the legal drinking age (which is 17, for those unaware!), and security will make sure nothing gets out of hand. There will be protesters on the edge of the block on Friday, but there will be no violence tolerated.

All threads will be linked on the main post for easier navigation. This post will serve for the entirety of the block party, which is from Thursday to Sunday. If you want, you can put the date in the subject line, otherwise it is up to you and your threadmates to decide when things take place. All stalls are set up for everyday of the block party. Don't forget to tag yourself in.

[He takes the fry from her less gooey end, and brushes his hand against her. Electricity shoots between them, but he doesn't pull away immediately.]

Goat cheese? Damn, I thought all cheese was the same.

[Because this is fried sex covered in more sex, goddamn.

Again, he picks the most delicious looking fry out and holds it up to her.]

[Mary feels the touch but doesn't react because listen, she's not twelve years old.

She does, however, lean forward and take a bite from the fry in John's hand, and immediately makes a small "happy" sound. These fries. These fries.]

[He's not expecting her to just...eat it like that, and he laughs out loud.]

That good, huh?

[Then the smile comes easy and before he knows it, he's letting his usual high-tension hunter guard down and everything focuses on Mary and this moment.

It's almost surreal. He can't remember a time he was this relaxed in public.

It's the cheese. Gotta be. :|]

[momchester]

[Mary gives him a little half-smile. She's more relaxed than she was, but there's still a thin shell of tension absent in John. Maybe tension isn't the right word for it. It's something simpler and a little sadder than that, but it doesn't completely dim the tiny smile on her face as she chews and swallows.]

Yeah.

[Beat.]

The fries. They're good.

[Smoov.]

[He chuckles.]

You want me to get more? Or should we move on to the funnel cake?

[He pushes the plate with the cakes towards her.]

It's got chocolate.

[momchester]

Oh yes.

[Chocolate time is now. B| And oh jesus, it's the best chocolate in the fucking universe.]

Mmm- this is better than sex.

[That comment just earns her a Look.]

Better than sex? Really?

[Ouch, his pride.]

[momchester]

[Rude, John, you made the same joke to Ellen. Way to put her on the spot omg. She pauses with her second bite halfway to her mouth.]

Well- it's an expression.

[Teasing and the lightest touch embarrassed.]

[Hey, he said "almost better than sex". ]

Uh huh, sure.

[Yeah, John's just messing with her now. he has to fight the smirk threatening to break through his "completely offended" Look.]

[momchester]

Hey- quiet, you.

[She leans closer and bumps him with her shoulder. It brings them a little too close, and she doesn't immediately lean back away.]

You said it, not me.

[He can't fight it anymore, and the grin breaks through. Dammit, way to ruin it Mary.

He turns to face her more fully, now that she's moved closer. The last time they were like this, they were both sick as a dog. Now, with all of his faculties actually working, he can appreciate the close contact. He'd missed it- her- so much.

You know, they've been doing good lately. No real fights, none of that tension, they're even sitting here right now (gasp) having fun. Maybe things are turning around for the two of them?

Surely it wouldn't hurt to test the waters?

Tentatively, John leans in close, and kisses her softly.]

[momchester]

[She sees it coming before it happens. The nudge, then they share the look. The look that precedes a kiss: the long eye contact that never breaks, the soft smile, the moment when words die on their lips and she can't remember what she was going to say.

Then he's kissing her, and she can't ever do anything but kiss him back, restrained desperation in every gentle movement.]

[Somehow this is better than their last kiss. As amazing and tension reliving as it was, it wasn't real, not the emotions behind it anyway. This right here? This is the real thing, just warmth and love and hesitation. It reminds him of their first kiss, a little.

Jesus that's too mushy, and he shakes the thought away.

Still, it's not enough. He cradles her neck in his hand, pulling her closer and deeper.]

[She goes with it because it's hard - too hard - to not do it, and Mary can't ever really fight him. But she makes a little sound, as she opens her mouth and lets him kiss her deeper, a tiny noise in her throat like she might be about to cry.

Part of her feels like she might. God, it's so like the early times that she almost can't stand it. She wants him so bad.]
